Volume Clip Effect - now clip in stereo?

Hi everyone,

fairly new to Waveform Free and using it to edit vocal recordings.

In Waveform 12, when I added the volume effect, everything looked just as in the tutorial here:

Hence, the volume effect did not change the way the clip looked, so all very intuitive.

Now I upgraded to Waveform 13 (Version 13.0.44 on Windows). Suddenly, the clip shows as a stereo clips once I add the clip effect. When I flatten the clip after having finished editing, it goes back to a mono clip. I find this confusing when editing the clip. Can anybody help with that? See sceenshots attached.
