Hi! I'm new here. I found out about OSC a couple of years ago around the time I started making music. I got the itch to finally try the challenge so here's my submission.
https://soundcloud.com/wobbleblast/purple-enigma
I tried to go for a rompler like sound, while limiting myself to one instance per distinct instrument.
Made this in Bitwig with 19 instances of AudiblePlanets. The rest is stock filter, reverb, delay, EQ and limiter.

Do you struggle as I do with adding "air" / high end to your track?
I was thinking it's my bad mixing, but then I have listened to your track and though ... weird, it's the same lack of high end, or name it "focus toward mids" that my track suffers from. Could it be the synth?

That's some great info, thanks!

AudiblePlanets is a really good synth for making ambient songs.
I've been struggling with the highs all the time, but assumed it was due to my lack of skills.
But if you have the same problems, then it's probably the synth.

In the meantime it got a little bit better on my side. Actually I think it was some issues in the mix:Juergen wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 8:27 pmThank you, I'm glad you like it.] Peter:H [ wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 12:01 pmCool test, I love it!Juergen wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 10:27 pm I have updated my test track a bit.

It seems that Audible Planet can produce very rich high frequency content way above my hearing range which still impacts the hearable frequencies in the upper most band.
Despite I can't hear them they still trigger the compressor band. After eliminating some of the "too high" stuff and thus getting "energy" from the compressor band it got way better.
Additionally I think the same is true for low bands ... I don't know whether it's aliasing what I see in the EQ display ... for some channels I have actually used a low shelf + low cut to get rid of unwanted low end...planets really behave weird ... can somebody please call Kepler to get this right!
Nevertheless the sound is still far from what I get when I use commercial synths like for instance Tone2 Icarus ...

Thanks for the reminder that this feature exits! I've discovered that using the envelope repeat mode gives you something that can be dramatically affected by tweaking the Equant and Squash knobs. I have no idea how it works but it gives something a bit different to the usual FM-ish noises...] Peter:H [ wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 8:17 pm Nerd alarm! I've tried out the repeat mode of the envelopes.

Off topic / little trick for click working amateurs like me using Bitwig:
I'm not a trained musician and are not able to spot chords, base chord of an inversions and their "function" in a mode by milliseconds, when just staring at it.
I started using this approach:
1.) Each note of a chord will be assigned a different channel
2.) Tonic goes into channel 1.
3.) 2nd chord channel 2 and so forth.
4.) Up to 7th chord which goes into channel 7
5.) Then I switch into "view by channel" view mode of the piano roll editor and get different colors for all my chords.
6.) Now I arrange a chord progression by copy pasting the chords at the right place in the progression.
Even when I do inversions or add opt/bottom notes i can immediately see which chord this initially was.
7.) On top I often add a bass note on channel 8 and some top notes in the remaining channel.
This channel layout allows me to "see" wht the initial chord was.
Additionally I feed many track from a single chord track and by setting up channel filters in the note receivers I can quickly get the bass, the chords, the chord plus top notes...

My entry this month. I thought this was a somewhat odd synth -- it didn't always work as expected and there were some interesting UI choices, controls that didn't seem to do much, but all of that was offset by having built-in animation that was fun to look at.

23 instances in Logic Pro 11. Logic EQs, Compressors, Reverb, Delays. Nova Free on a few tracks and the mix bus.
Thanks to BJ and Richard as always for keeping this going!

Hi! I was linked to this challenge by a friend (shun/Oddeye) and decided to try it out!
I've been making music / synthesizing sounds for just under 3 months now so It's definitely far from perfect but I had fun making it.
So, this is my submission:
https://soundcloud.com/zydra_zy/zydra-etterath
(PS: This synth is freaky as hell. I get it but also What were they cooking....)
FL Studio with Instances:
7 Audible Planetss, 7 OTTs, 7 Fruity Parametric EQ 2s, Transient Processor and one Fruity Limiter!
