First of all: I love this synth. If you like experimenting and don't have a deadline, you can spend hours screwing and twisting the infinite possibilities.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to work everything out a little better in the end. But you have to take it as it comes. ;)

Made with: 19 Audible Planets - FL Studio

FL Studio: Parametric EQ 2, Delay 3, Maximus, Fruity Limiter
Others: TDR Nova, TDR Molotok, LoudMax, MSED, Airwindows Weight (Subfilter), Valhalla Supermassive, Limiter No6, Kilohearts Transient Shaper (for Drums) Raum Reverb

This month's plan to create a hard techno track resulted in this.

https://soundcloud.com/violator-alba-99 ... al_sharing

The kick has been deliberately pushed hard into the limiter to distort it a bit. It ended up at around -7 LUFS which felt a bit much so it's been backed off to -12. Anyway, back to Tracktion Waveform Pro 13 this month with 25 instances of Audible Planets. The following plugins were also used:

- dpMeter5, Blue Cat Gain 3 and KClip Zero for clip to zero duties
- Valhalla Supermassive on sends
- kHs Stereo for widening and panning
- Tracktion TEqualiser
- Tracktion TCompressor
- Tracktion MasterMix
- Youlean Loudness meter

All patches created from init although one of them did use the randomization tab...

Also used Scaler 2 to generate the midi for some of the tracks. Drums sequenced with Modalics Beat Scholar and the resulting midi pasted into Waveform. All midi generators disabled for final rendering.

For Techno I recommend the following: Grab yourself a copy of PsyScope FREE (VST2) and ISOL8.

Solo ISOL8s low band. Set the cutoff to 120Hz. Route low band of ISOL8 into PsyScope.
Open PsyScope. Set it to "show 2 beats". Now you can see your BDR and for instance your off beat bass or rolling bass playing together. Solo either of them to see where they overlap.
With this visual feedback you can ...
a.) adjust length of bdr ...
b.) side chain bdr and bass properly ...
c.) do a first round of volume adjustments and
d.) correct phase issues for the overlap of BDR and off beat. You can cometimes see these issues as "instabilities", unexpected "peaks" or "drops" of volume in the area where BDR and Bass meet each other.

Second thing to balance volume of BDR and off beat: I use Youlean. Press "S" (one of the circle buttons at the bottom), then I solo BDR and get it close to -6dB. Have your eq, compressor and moderate peak limiter in the BDR channel ready for that.
Second I level the off beat bass at -9dB ... again have your eq, compressor and peak limiter ready...

These two recipes give me relative good drive which you need for techno.

And if you sometimes need a little bit of inspiration for techno ... I enjoy watching the following YT channel: Alice Yalcin Efe - Mercurial Tones Academy. She has lot's of incredible content.

Cheers for that! In my hunting around for a genre I'd like to work more in, it looks like I'm heading a bit more towards techno so I'll have a look into the bass/kick issue. I actually only recently discovered Alice, the wee stepped riser in the quiet bits was from one of her tips!

Hello everyone!

I had a lot of fun with the synth. So many possibilities with the modulation, the cool effects and the pretty MSEGs. Already very curious what everybody came up with.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I discovered by pure chance KVR organized these amusing monthly synth challenges and I decided to give it a go myself. It's not perfect by any means (a little shit and not what I really aimed to do, to be honest), but still, it was a lot of fun to compose it!

My entry. Fun synth with a unique sound and great modulation. Had some CPU and stability issues but I suspect some of these have been solved when I read back through the thread

Hi everyone!

Here is my entry:

It's good to finally have something to submit again :wheee: I have been procrastinating too much lately.

33 instances of AudiblePlanets
Made in Bitwig 5.0.11

Only one Bitwig peak limiter used on the master channel, so, it's bassically just the raw output of AudiblePlanets without any processing.

As established by the rules, I confirm I've scored all tracks :tu:
