The Studio Log - What Did You Do In The Studio

After most of the night (ugh) in the hardware studio, one thing has become terribly apparent: the Airas and Volcas are too small for me to easily use! And programming sequences with a magnifying glass to see the fercking buttons (especially on the Airas, wtf) is like getting teeth pulled with rusty pliers and no painkiller.

This means moving to larger units like the Boutique gear, Behringer synths, or a full groovebox that's a big one. Bigger, alas, means more money too.

Eurorack suddenly doesn't seem so stupid, after all.

I still have my DAW setup, I'll use that for now while I experiment.. a used Electribe 2 might do as a starter. At least I could use it to sequence other gear, and it's not $1500 freaking bucks!!

Hookers and crack would be a cheaper hobby...

What were you trying to accomplish with the volcas/arias lines?

Do you want samples and synths in the same box? Do you have space for multiple synths, or just want an all-in-one?

I’ve been very happy with Elektron. I’m down to just Syntakt, but I know the bigger boxes gets of love here. I hear the gen 1 of Octatrak and others are still very powerful, with the bonus of being available at decent prices (except Machinedrum, which is pricey)

Yesterday I remixed and mastered a track that I had previously sent to a mastering guy. He didn't do a good job, but he did recommend some obvious changes -duh, to the mix.
Either a second set of ears or months between listens is the best way to fix flaws in your stuff IMHO. This is why everyone having a DAW is kind of a bad thing because you have the ability to release too fast.

It's like some of those comments I had seen last week, which had nothing at all to do with your content/posts, had been badly translated from another language. All of them were really odd, even if one were on the same dose level of that particular substance.

Made sure the Spectrovox works. VCO direct out, check; breaks out the Swarm... and now the fun begins! Make sounds like I have never heard before- check!
We need some more experimental noise right! I hardly know what I'm doing but I can definitely say I'm keeping this.
I also know these two are my core for the case I get.

Got lost for hours last night running my new Jomox MBase 11 through my Elektron Analog Heat+FX for some skull-krushing kickness. Realized in hindsight that I should’ve just recorded the whole session in real-time and made the results available to anybody who likes to chop up samples.
