Just load up a ZX Spectrum cassette game and press play, and there you have your Aphex Twin music.

let's admit some of his tracks also veer into "mostly terrible" territory.

This more like Taylor Shift but without the annoying singing

I was partially joking, but I don't care for some of the tracks that are nearly pure noise and not much melody/music. Maybe a track or 2 from Drukqs, like "Gwarek2". Since it's all a matter of opinion, I don't want to get into a drawn out thing about it where people jump all over me for naming a specific track they like.

I was doing very crazy spectral manipulation of files in cool edit (not pro) and granular stuff in the 8th grade which would have been 97 I think. Making loops in hammerhead and then shredding those loops and then putting them back in hammerhead and then taking the results and trying to stitch it into something cool destructively in cool edit by using "paste from file". I found some of those "master tapes during a cleaning recently...... It was mostly terrible. 👍
Around that time, there was a program for the Mac OS called LiSa. (Live Sampler) I used to love to take long samples, sometimes entire songs, and chop them up into what now would be called “grains” and then run them off complex sequences. In my head, they’re awesome, but I’m lucky the results have been lost to time.

True, but it definitely wasn’t common knowledge. The first time I heard of it was when I bought Riverrun, a plugin that was part of a bundle of effects plugins. I can’t remember what year that was, but I suspect I was running it on an Apple G series tower.

There were some cool command line granulizers for dos/win 95. Then every program with a "time stretch" process could be used for granular fun too.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.
