Picked up Pulse recently, it's lovely. Any plans for the inverse (gating) option?

Post

I have Glow and recently picked up Radiance and Dawn. Never understood the point of Pulse even after demoing it. Isn't any algorithmic lexicon-type plugin going to do a similar job? Even Softube's Tsar-1R seems to be quite good at the short room sounds.

Also, looking forward to Wave Alchemy's spring reverb (they mentioned it on gearspace).

Thanks for implementing gating in Pulse and Glow, and all the other new features!

As to Pulse's overlap with other Lexicon-inspired and Lexicon emulations, Pulse is specifically the PCM-60, and people like it for the simplicity. Room or Plate (2 buttons), Size (4), Time (4), and Contour (4). So you can try them out and quickly know if they're good for the particular material or not. Now with the shaping and mixing tools built-in, it saves time from having to set up inserts/sends and other plugins. It's a workflow speedup.

With that said, if you know a particular plugin is going to satisfy you in a particular instance nothing's faster than that.

Also wanted to say thanks to Wave Alchemy for the updates! I've been waiting for the Ensemble algorithm to be ported over from Radiance and Dawn and it didn't disappoint - it works perfectly on the RMX16. I do have to say there are some UI misalignment issues in Glow - the duck and smooth slider, the new fx, undo/redo button on top too. The colors of the preset library are not matched to plugin (while they are matched in Radiance and Dawn). Sorry for the nitpicking, that's just my job lol.

And @yellowmix thank you for explaining it better to me. I guess if the original hardware does not seem that interesting or useful for my workflow, then neither is the plugin emulating it. I can say that all WA plugins sound good though. I really love mixing in Radiance for a bit of drum atmosphere on a very dry kit, personally.

Are you using Wave Alchemy Pulse in a Mac computer, unfortunately its not working on Windows 10 using VST3. No reverb sound comes out just a dry signal I suspect it not ported over to fully to work on a Win 10 computer correctly. The other 3 Wave Alchemy reverbs work very well on my Win 10 computer using VST3.

Have reported major bug on VST3 not recieve reply yet,

Which DAW are you using? It worked fine for me in Cubase 12 Pro in Windows 10, but I haven't downloaded the new update yet.

Its Version 1.10 the new update, Version 1.00 not listed for download. Stick with Version 1.00 until a update on Version 1.10 (1.11 or higher) is released.

I just tried Version 1.10 and it worked fine for me, so it might be an issue with whichever DAW you're using.

I'm on Windows and it works fine in Reaper, but I did stick it in "Plugin Doctor" just to try another host and it didn't appear to have any wet signal at all in PD. So maybe there's a bug in certain hosts. But yeah, the VST3 version works fine in Reaper at least.

If it's not working in your host, report it to Wave Alchemy as it's not a "VST3+Windows" thing. It's more of a "VST3+Windows+certain hosts" thing.

Tried Pulse in Reaper is the same result as in Cubase Pro 13 (in Win 10), Pulse Version 1.10 gives no wet sound out, only dry sound out. Other 3 Wave Alchemy reverbs work perfectly.

Myabe I'm remembering wrong and only tried on Mac. I'll give it a shot in Reaper in Windows again after work. I had just bought the thing a few days ago and barely spent time with it. But did you contact Wave Alchemy support yet?

Yes, reported (on Sunday) via contact form on website about no wet output sound, not heard back from Wave Alchemy yet.

Layer8 problem I guess.

Just to reply to myself. I was indeed mistaken. Mac version works fine in Reaper. The Windows version doesn't work at all. At Mix 50%, only the dry signal is heard. At Mix 100%, there's no audio at all.

So nobody with Windows cannot use Pulse at this moment. No older working version of Pulse is available to download on website, just version 1.10 (which came out on 31/05/2024).

Wonder how quickly they will get a new Windows working version out or put an older working windows version on website?.
