hi guys,
im wondering what reverb you would recommend for this type of pad/drones, or how to mix this?
i need to checkout which notes are played/chord but i tried some nice pads out and valhalla shimmer but it didnt sound so fluid/dreamy, i dunno why yet.
thanks!

Well, the reverb you use, or lets say, the reverb you creat has to fit to the song you use it for.
For this pad like sounds you can hear, that the reverb sounds reverbs the frequencys of the pad sound and NOT more.
If you would use a drumsound for the same track, you would use a different reverb to give it space.
Use EQ and filter to sculpt your reverb so that it sounds like an instrument itself.
Blend the reverb in and out slowly every time you want to give the sound this space.
A good on for this is Valhalla shimmer and simmelar reverbs for long reverb tails.

Maybe he's right (I think so too), the sound may just be from the pad. but i think it can also be recreated with a drier drone and a reverb (i think that's what you want). I would use a send channel to put an eq and then some reverb like Blackhole or Wormhole completely wet —and mix both channels. Play with the eq. That will be the key i guess.

There are a lot of these types of videos, and most sound like the same synth. I assume Omnisphere? Maybe its built in reverb. All extremely good sound design.

Replika and Raum from NI, the free Solaris from the Viper synth dev, Valhalla Massive also a freebie, and as mentioned, filtering the pads as needed. A phaser and or tremolo that can move really really slow can be nice. BlueCat's Late Replies is also excellent for such ambience, and is bundled with their Axiom ampsim suite, which can do many interesting things to un-suspecting pads
Cheers

From just a quick listen I'd say there's at least two sounds, one low frequency pulsating drone plus one higher frequency one, with reverbs and volumes automated slowly for movement.
I highly recommend the free Skynet reverb, super easy GUI and I love the sound for spacey long tail reverbs.
For shimmer, the free Solaris can do it.

This was on the news feed recently. Didn't get much attention but sounds interesting from the demo video:

Always been interested in this, but V1 was Windows only. Nice to see that addressed in V2. Great price, and seems like a crazy demo-mode.

Try OB-E with the Melting Ice patch, adjust the pans to make them more extreme, and add Lexicon 224 with the Atmosphere patch on an effects send at 100%.
