I'm sure some here know but others may not... This site has all the knowledge & resource for running Rebirth to windows 11 64bit plus MAC & WINE (whine?)....

They appear to be keeping up with the times with updates regular one just a couple days ago>>>

Nice to see someone doing a way better job than propellerhead who went flaccid on their Rebirth page in 2015?

Image

Yeah, I believe they lasted 10 years from 2005-2015... Man they don't even like you talking about the old stuff nowadays...

Rebirth maintains a 7 of 10 in rating over at acidvoice which is just ONE point from matching the best there & in my mind that makes it the best because it's the oldest>>>

Their patterns are rather crappy but at least somebody did something...

Man... user interfaces used to be so gaudy. Look at Cubase trying its best to look as horrible as possible :hihi:

I'm lucky I bought this for my iPad years ago so it's still on my account. I do enjoy dabbling with it, but it's definitely very dated.

Post

The iPad version isn't 'very dated' because it's for an iPad... The desktop yeah but I still don't know what that has to do with making music... I can do just as good on old as new you see you can use newer plugs on older DAWs now with machines more powerful, machines were pretty grim back then some barely able to boot up... Also using modern large samples works well in old sequencers samplers & such...

I also like the old bold styling with 3D buttons everybody had their own 'take' which is like old cars that were designed like rocketships & such with tailights 'spitting fire'. You don't see such boldness nowadays... Someone will point over & say "Look at that new Jeep!"... "Uhhh, it's not a Jeep it's a Mercedes!"... DAWs same 'merging' going on looks like I am not the only one-

Here's the newish nocd check thing.

I still use Rebirth as a drum machine, the many mods make for many cool samples. Rewire doesn't work anymore so I have to use vb audio cable.

Cool Beans didn't know that no-cd hack was there... Amazing that's still a thing with radium fixing that problem permanent back in 1998... I also got a portable that runs from anywhere but no rewire... No problem one can render out WAVs then REXify, done>>>

Peff still has a page here but obviously not updated for quite awhile-

Peff always did some of the best in Rebirth tunes>>>

Make that 2 of us, I used RB338, Acid Pro, and an XP-60 (concurrently) in the late 90s to make some very mediocre music!

GCD (if you'll allow the abbreviation), what did you think of the XP-80? I know you're quite the sound enthusiast.

I quickly sold mine, and cringe when thinking back on it, but much of that was on me, as it just didn't fit my sonic preferences.

It was great for that time , not as great as the jd990 but good enough , and in hindsight a pretty crappy digital filter
My mate made some ‘mental techno bangers on just the xp-80 , the crowd didn’t give a flying horse if it was sample based or not .
The only roland gear I have now is an integra and an r8m ( with 808-909 card )
The R8m sounds incredibly punchy , muchos better then the 808-909 sounds in tne integra .

Phew, I'm glad I wasn't imagining that or being an elitist synth snob, haha.

you can still get them and there is a sync app which was conceived at the same time

I have Rebirth boxed installed, and 100+ mods
...such a nice item
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

I like RubberDuck, Hammerhead was quite popular with some exporting their stuff out to other music app...

FXs were weak in alot of apps because hey, how much chorus/reverb/flanger or whatever are you gonna get out of 32 or 64 MB RAM?... Try that nowadays, Oh wait, you can't even begin to boot up on 32-64 MB RAM so even worse nowadays...

The music programs are not better, they just take advantage of the more powerful machines, that's all... You cannot run ableton 11 on windows 95-98 with 32-64 MB RAM so it would be useless garbage... If you COULD run it then it would be the tech of the century but lazy coders just wait for more powerful machines...

Once you realize this paradox then you see just how GOOD the old apps were to run on machines that would barely even start up...

I always thought the BramBos Moonfish quite interesting designed as a JOKE!... A 3 Track Tracker that is so simple to use it really is barely a tracker, any idiot can learn it in a minute or two... You can use samples up to 16 MB!! BPM up to 1230!!

It's the perfect compo challenge tracker...
