Not looking to dispresect.
There are artists whose production chops, or access to tech is limited. Not everyone is an Eno or an (INSERT NAME), does it always matter?
I listen to more stuff on Bandcamp these days, and yo uknow what? I'm a lot more forgiving. Did the people who first pioneered techno (a genre i don't listen to much in the field of electronic music) have access to Abbey Road? No they made stuff in their bedrooms using Amigas or Ataris to get out quickly so their stuff could make it to the clubs or raves quickly.
Or not, what do i know?

Generally I don't judge production because some choices are deliberate aesthetics.
But.
A lot of 90s goth/darkwave had vocals that were mixed WAY too quiet (and drowning in reverb, and possibly mumbled by a mortally embarrassed introvert). I know it was kind of the thing, but... I want to hear the vocals. More oddly, there's a more recent chiptune album with some serious bangers but the main song that has guest vocals, you can barely hear her.
I really dislike the merciless hard panning that early stereo records had... it's a horrible experience in headphones.
Super sibilant, loud hats taking over the entire beat kind of bugs me and is just tiring on the ears.
And a specific one: the taiko group I used to perform with released an album after I left. I helped a tiny bit with the recording process, and also did two remixes with additional electronic parts. They supposedly paid someone to master the album, but all the "normal" tracks are about 1/4 the level they should be while mine sound SUPER LOUD by comparison. It honestly makes me not want to listen to the album.

I'm really trying to wrack my brains for examples. Production is part of the finished record, so, yes, there could be the idea of good songwriting and arrangement, but badly captured, but my brain doesn't think that way.
Maybes....
There's an album by Dogs Die In Hot Cars that quite a fun poppy album, but what they've done to the singer's voice really annoys me. I dont know what it is, but I get a bit of listening fatigue. It's not his actual voice, it's something else.
Rid of Me by PJ Harvey, I absolutely love, but I think some of the songs sound compressed when they should be more explosive. Polly loves Albini's recording of it, so it might be just me.

celine dion makes bad music but with "good" production?
i dont really know
seriously
if the song is good, the production doesn't matter
buskers don't care about production
passerbys don't care about that too?
