HI Folks

Has anyone had a go at using this synth with Linnstrument? I am interested to see how well they "go together", particularly whether the new style triggers are feasible and what opinions are on the sound.

I'm very tempted, but haven't found the time yet. I'm mainly interested in sounds that are expressive and responsive (e.g. not slow pads which seem to be the majority of synthesized MPE). From the videos I've seen there are few presets like that, but the building blocks seem like they should be well suited for it.

I have it but haven't haven't really taken the time to explore it much. From the presets I've trued in passing, they don't make good use of MPE or are very limited in versatility.

I've tried it. I've appreciated the sonic richness of resonators as a generator of acoustic -sounding timbres, and Noisy 2 doesn't disappoint as a resonator-based synth. The only downsides are:
1) the preset sounds are optimized for Osmose's unusual use for CC74, which instead of Y-axis is essentially "more pressure", so on LinnStrument the Y-axis response usually adds loudness instead of changing timbre; and
2) there's currently no tutorial for how to create sounds, so it's tricky to understand the interface and to create useful sounds.

That said, I know the Expressive-E founders and they are both smart and driven by a passion to create great instruments, so I tend to trust their vision in anything they make. When I have more time, I intend to dig further into Noisy 2's capabilities.

I just got it and gave it my first try. Initial impressions: I really like it, it’s just the kind of thing I’ve been looking for sound-wise. The controls seem fine; Z doesn’t seem to do much, but Y is ok. Velocity response is good, no complaints there. This is with the Linnstrument in regular, stock MPE mode (quick preset #4).

I could see the sound of it being really divisive though, a love it or hate it synth.

I just got my Linnstrument 128 about 10 days ago; I need to see what I need to do to register it.

Haven’t tried many synths with it yet, but I have tried Falcon, Animoog, and now Noisy 2. Very pleased with it, does everything I was hoping for.

Noisy 2 got an update and starts to shine. Its really 100% made for MPE, though what Roger mentioned is still true, as most sounds are targeted at the Osmose…
Still its easy to adapt, and even without tweaking its one of the most expressive synthesizers I know. The sheer amount of MPE presets alone is impressive…
