Can you do anything with the "mod matrix"? I don't notice any changes, no matter what combinations I try?

All is good here too Win 11.

what daw are you in? Maybe there's something preventing the midi messages from getting to the plugin.

Thanks for the tip. I'm playing with FL Studio.

FL Studio has always struggled with Mod Wheel and Aftertouch as shown in your screenshot above. Unlike any other DAW they have to be set up before they will work and periodically they'll just stop working for no apparent reason.

Unless this issue only occurs in Synth 1 for you and no other plugins then it's likely FL Studio's fault.

Thanks, only Synth1 (my Main Plugin),
Not at Nexus. Avenger, Dune, Sylenth1, Saurus and on and on

Ok then I don't know what else to advise. I just tried Synth 1 in FL Studio on Win 10 and both Mod Wheel and Aftertouch work just fine in exactly the same configuration as in your screenshot above.

What version of FL Studio are you using?

Morbid curiosity just forces me to ask but with all those other fantastic synths at your disposal why would Synth 1 be your main plugin?

Don't get me wrong, I still love Synth 1 and will always have it installed but other than a rare play session never use it in a project these days because I have so many other options including three that you mention above. I think both Synth 1 and Ichiro belong in the plugin Hall of Fame. Very few other freeware (or indeed payware) synths have had the staying power of Synth 1. The fact that we're still talking about it all these years later when so many other synths have faded into history is a testament to its quality and character of sound.

Thanks for the discussion about Synth1

I always use the latest Fruity Loops version (lifetime updates  ), but I have never noticed any changes in settings or changes to the ModMatrix.

Good question, why do I favor Synth1?

Point 1 is the style of my music. As a "child of the 80s" I want to bring the first development from SynthWave to Trance into the second development. You can imagine that I was pretty amazed when The Weeknd managed to do what I haven't managed to do to this day;o)

Point 2 is the large number of presets that I have adapted for myself over many years and that I can actually get all the sounds I need with them.

Point 3 is "economy". I don't want to join the "battle of the (often badly programmed) wavetable synths" (Hybrid 3 also had wavetables and never had CPU problems), constant new performance improvements are necessary. I'm not yet warming to Vital.

For composition I use the equally slim Nexus (or by chance I already have the right Synth1 sound).

When mixing I try to see if I can get better sounds with Synth1 than with Nexus. In 10% of cases it's the Nexus or Avenger, Sylenth1, DUNE 2, Tone2 Saurus, Synthmaster (not enough Air Hybrid 3 recently - the alleged "successor" hype is no good).

Cheers
