They're not going to stop people making music. Free sounds good to me, not everybody has or wants to spend money on software.
I'd grab Acustica Grey for free, you wanted fast compression, this does fast.

I'd also try their other free offerings, worth a try for free.

Psychocircuitry miniFet has a free version, not an 1176 copy but still useful for those FET-style duties IMO. I find it easier to use personally, as I'm not a fan of the "black box" feel of the 1176's controls.

Wonder what happened to that guy, as he delivered quite a few Gems until somehow disappearing in 2021 or so.The Noodlist wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 4:23 pm An overlooked compressor, although it's VCA modelled, are the offerings from Sender Spike.

As far as 'There is no free Lunch' in the Mind of a true Capitalist, at least there is the 'free' TDR Kotelnikov, which can do quite a lot of things including fast compression, yet also doesnt emulate anything analog or the 1176. But Pulsar's Smasher does, at least the heavy setting and was also given away for free in the past.

You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

It's worth to read the original EL Distressor manual for proper usage as 1176 or any other possible comp topologies this unit provides.ampetrosillo wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 1:37 pm Like, I do have T-Racks Comprexxor, which I'm sure can ape a 1176. I never use it

That's a no-brainer, for sure. The T-Racks stuff is very solid. The Noodlist wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 12:38 pmBundle is also on sale at $49Igro wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:47 am Not free, but cheap

There's lots of quality free stuff out there, like TDR. Tonebooster., Klanghelm, Variety of Sound, they are worth a try and keepers.

And if you're going to get any T-Racks stuff, you may as well get the bundle, because it's going to install all of the plugins on your drive whether you own the licenses for them or notzerocrossing wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:07 pmThat's a no-brainer, for sure. Didn't they change that recently?PieBerger wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 6:48 am And if you're going to get any T-Racks stuff, you may as well get the bundle, because it's going to install all of the plugins on your drive whether you own the licenses for them or not![]()
Anyway: T-Racks Max for fifty bucks is an absolutely insane deal. Anyone starting out right now is totally in luck.

I'm pretty sure you'll only get a decent upgrade deal to T-Racks 6 if you have the full bundle. But yeah, for $49.90 the value you'll get with all those, unrivalled. Even for the tape machines alone..

I agree $49 is a steal if you don't already have a drive full of mixing plugins!

I wouldn't say that Molot(ok) is a 1176 compressor. I have it, by the way. It's its own thing.
Honestly, folks, it doesn't matter whether it is a 1176 or not. Get a decent, full-featured compressor and use *that*. Your DAW may have one already. You can have emulations or just dial in that sort of response on a compressor that can do it all (especially for track duties). I am convinced you could do a full album, tracks and buses, just with Kotelnikov.

I would start with trying the Analog Obsession FET bundle for free and then take it from there. Make a Patreon donation if you like them.

Ouch.. But when you're ready to step out of the children arena and into adult you should pick a proper daw. I recommend cubase or studio one. If you are unfortunate enough to have Mac, logic is a given.Eva Redwood wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:08 amFL Studio, unfortunately.EfreetiSultan wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 8:26 am Which daw do you use?
