anyone running this with mac os 10.14.5 (mojave)? The manual says 10.14(.5) is the minimum it will run under but it crashes every time I try to run it. I followed all the installation tips/tricks in the manual, ran the unix commands to turn off gatekeeper but everytime I run it, it crashes before it displays anything.

Does anyone know of any tools or techniques for managing multi-sample libraries?

None of the sample managers I have (Samplism, AudioFinder (abandonware alert!), XO etc) can deal with multi-samples at all.

Part of my problem is that I run a variety of different multi-sample players. I have hardware sample players (1010 tangerine, Disting EX, Synthstrom Deluge). I have Bitwig and MainStage on my MacBook. And then there are VST/AU plugins like Kontakt, Descent Sampler etc.

In terms of unlocked multi-samples I tend to have collections of multi-samples that I organize by original source. Then I have derivative converted versions of many of those libraries which I tend to organize by target format.

But it all quickly and easily degenerates into chaos.

ConvertWithMoss 10.0.0 is online!

Get it from https://mossgrabers.de
  • Added support for disting EX multi-sample preset format.
  • All formats
    • New: Added support for amplitude and filter velocity modulation (1010music, Ableton ADV, SFZ). Only amplitude: DecentSampler, EXS24.
    • Fixed: Improved handling of missing root note information.
  • 1010music format - Reading
    • Fixed: Samples could not always be found.
  • EXS - Writing
    • Fixed: Filter cutoff was calculated incorrectly and could lead to silent patches.
    • Fixed: Envelope parts which were not set were handled incorrectly.
  • SFZ - Reading
    • Fixed: Attributes of previous converted SFZ did leak into next conversion.
    • Fixed: Only create a filter when there is at least a cutoff or filter type attribute present.

metalsvinet wrote: Sun May 26, 2024 4:53 am Great project! I get either silence or white noise when converting to Logic Sampler (EXS). Seems Jürgen is testing EXS in a third party sampler, so I'm just wondering if anyone has it working in Logic?

Sonoma 14.5 / Logic Pro 11
Does it work with none of the output files or can you track it down to certain sample rates, parameters, etc.?
Also, did you try different source formats?
Files were 48 kHz/24 bit. Tried a handful of Kontakt and Decentsampler files from Pianobook. If there are open source files you use for testing I could try them and report back.
I did some testing and found a bug with the filter cutoff and its envelope (and I need to add velocity depth to fix some sounds). Please check if opening the filter fixes this.
No idea about the white noise. Can you point me to one Pianobook patch which causes this?
For instance this Kontakt file from a Pianobook contributor generates only white noise when converted: https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/cr-seventy-eight/

Filter 1 and Filter 2 are both off by default. Turning on Filter 1 in the patch above affects the white noise, so whatever is going on must happen before the filters.
I got myself now a copy of Logic 11 to be able to test this (sigh). I could replicate the issue. It seems to me like an issue with the Sampler plugin that it picks the wrong samples for playback (this is just a guess). When I opened the converted example from above I got asked to pick the correct location of the samples (it showed several options) and I might have picked the wrong one and then had the white noise as well. But strangely the samples looked fine in the waveform view and also opening them for editing opened the correct file and played it back correctly.

Filter issues should be fixed with version 10 I released yesterday.

And judging from this bitbox thread (https://forum.1010music.com/forum/produ ... ltisamples), sample start is indeed not implemented for multisamples. As a small experiment, I multiplied all "samstart" values by 10 (i.e., added a "0" at the end), but nothing changes: There's still the same delay, while if the "samstart" argument would be used, the samples should start somewhere within the samples (I guess). This supports the idea that the blackbox does not even use the "samstart" argument for multisamples.

I've posted about this on the 1010music forum here: https://forum.1010music.com/forum/produ ... ltisamples.

If it is indeed the case that "samstart" is ignored for multisamples, then the best workaround for the moment, I guess, is to simply trim the silence at the beginnings of the samples.

Is there any tool for batchprocessing samples like this that you would recommend?
Just for the record, meanwhile 1010music answered in the referenced thread that the attribute is currently not supported and it is noted as an improvement wish.

The alternative is to provide a trim option in ConvertWithMoss. Will add this to my wishlist as well but at the very bottom ;-)

I am afraid it requires a minimum of Macos 11. Where did you read that in the manual? Couldn't spot it.

A bit more info please. Did you select the correct source folder and the correct source format?
What are you trying to convert?

Post

so i have a few things to try. the source folder i have tried a 1010 stock sample, kontakt instrument, and ableton sampler. i am trying to convert my ableton samplers and kontakt libraries to multisample instruments for my 1010 tangerine. i even tried converting just wav files to 1010 but it only says analyse not convert

If you do not see any conversion attempt its highly likely that you selected the wrong input source on the left. It only searches for files with the selected ending. E.g. for Kontakt select "Kontakt" on the left and then it searches for *.nki files.

okay, so does it not support .nkx files? i was able to make an nki work but i dont have very many in that format.

i have a few other sources, an ableton rack, the stock 1010 sounds. none of those are able to run they just say analyzed then finished

Post

If you haven't already, try it with the .nkx in the same folder as the samples.

when i find my samples they look like they are all encrypted. i get an all files not supported message

Post

You can't convert encrypted libraries. I guess that's what .nkx means.

Hi

I'm thrilled about the Disting EX support, but have issues to get it to work properly.

Using Kontakt libraries from PianoBook the conversion seems to go well, but when played on the Disting I'm getting either no sound, just hammer sounds, or random notes depending on the sample pack.

So far I've tried these:
https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/mikor-piano-felt/ (https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/mikor-piano-felt/)
https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/the-emperor-king/ (https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/the-emperor-king/)
https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/kawai-felt-piano/ (https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/kawai-felt-piano/)

And this one, that won't convert at all. It just halts when detecting the Kontakt version:
https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/woodland-piano/ (https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/woodland-piano/)

Any hints on what I could be doing wrong?

All the best, Thomas
