My secret weapon is thinking about what can I improve to my recent beat idea while doing it. In other word, distract yourself with thoughts. And believe me, you'll last longer in bed

two microphones, and a turntable lazy susan.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Not much secret but:
Sunvox + 11 years of experience.
If you have spent time on a software or plugin long enough, you can always feel comfortable to create most of the sound you want with them.

This mostly, especially when working with other artists, has been the key. Also be flexible and try to see the angle from others viewpoint.Muied Lumens wrote: Sat Jun 15, 2024 1:36 pm The secret weapon is experience and keeping a positive attitude.
Nothing beats experience.

To overcome choice paralysis I usual track to tape. 8 tracks is pretty limited, but can work very well. The point is not using tape, it's using something clunky and limited to just get going

Mine has always been the arpeggiator, whether, that's software or hardware-based. It used to be a fun way to program into tracker-based programs back in the 1990s. I used A Yamaha DJX for this, and have since upgraded to a Casio XW G1 & P1 that have a programable ARP feature. Modifying the note sequence with the computer always provides interesting results.

OMGGGGGG I can't believe he told us about the arpeggiator feature! I told him about that in confidence and now EVERYBODY knows about it!
