SONICALLY Best VST Synth

Yawn... sounds okay, reverb/delay could be a bit nicer, overall, not impressed. Not hearing anything special in terms of distortion---doesn't sound great in the "Pure Distortion" preset audio.

Might demo myself if they ever add MPE---great per voice distortion would be nice with MPE.

Does it have wavetables or samples?

No wavetable or samples. Each plugin format type is about 150 mb,mostly just image files for the different skins and sizes. It does have some wave shapes which I assume are sample based but it is not a wavetable synth. It’s a very nice synth probably my favorite . Most presets are hard EDM sounds but it’s capable of anything

I see. Well, I have limited Internet access, so I wish developers would stop being lazy and split downloads up...
I just checked Sylenth1, it is not even 35MB, about 1/10th.

I know what you mean. Arturia is on of the worst with this. I had both the v collection and fx collection and together they took about 40 gigs of space mostly in image files,which are kept in a separate shared folder apart from the already large plugins. And to make matters worse they install additional copies of the vst and vst3 plugins in the shared folder for the standalone apps. I had been planning to get an external drive to put all of it on but decided to sell them instead.

Standalone internal FX quite potent big sound & very musical which is more important, Internal Sequencer was brilliant for any kinda oddball or strange rhythm... Later synth like Tera or Poseidon, etc had sequencers too but way watered down & simplistic... But YES it was a VSTi as well but not near as good that way...

Addstation on Mac and the iPad is underrated. I need to use it for my music more, as I can use the Roland UM-One and MOTU M4 to turn my iPad into a multitimbral module. Someone on the Audiobus forums recreated Kawai K5000 and Roland D50-style sounds with it!

I tend to use Icarus more for user wavetables and also because it's more up-to-date. Spire sounds very crisp to my ears (with nice FX too) and is one of the few synths that let you use oscillators as mod sources (which bring decent results)!
