heya,
need an expression pedal now,
what should I get.
Have quickly googled,
but looking for advice too
The budget is ok,
but are the m-audio cheap ones fine?
Nektar nxp looks good too,
do peeps have trouble with them sliding about the floor?
-are both nektar and m-audio absolutely fine, done deed?
cheers
what do you think of getting an IK Multi-Media Stealth Pedal for this?
-the Stealth pedal seems problematic in a modern set-up.
Anyone running it fully on Win 11?
Would this plug into standard expression pedal socket?==>

I have a Roland GI-20 or a Kore2 to receive the trs plug
It's tip hot,
-is tip hot generic?
-i think it's this is my fav:-

should I pull the pin?

I've always used BOSS/Roland EV-5 without much complaints
Although the case is plastic, it's quite sturdy and won't move about much.
But it depends on whether you live in Roland or Korg/Yamaha world.

If the connected device just takes resistance between tip & ring, then it doesn't matter.

When using a TRS patch cable, then yeah. Roland = BOSS btw (as you would know).nix808 wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2024 2:22 am Would [this](source-audio-dual-expression-pedal) plug into standard expression pedal socket?

An expression pedal is just a foot-controlled potmeter. Usually totally passive, so there is no concept of "hot". I found an article stating: most common is that the tip of TRS is connected to the wiper of the pot. Tip & Ring are sometimes swapped.

ok hmm
seems that if it connects inverted,
it works backwards,
doesn't break anything
-and if was inverted,
the cable's terminals can be altered
{edit}--is that true, just looking at it again?
thanks a million bert
-still thinking of one of those 2 models

I'm using a Boss EV-30 to control two synths and I am very happy with it. Solid metal construction feels like it will last a long time.

ooh hell yeah
polarity switch and aluminum
(polarity switch is useful for performance imo)
3 contenders,
beside nektar and m-audio
wonder if Roland GI-20 and Kore2 will mate with Win11 this time

If you're comfortable using a soldering iron, then sure.nix808 wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2024 10:59 pm the cable's terminals can be altered

If you're comfortable voiding warranty, you can fix it in the pedal itself

ok hmm,
if the sides of the pot were switched,
I would be confident,
but I can't say I am
the max position is switched with center
I think the Boss one is my fav
Thanks though, I think it's not over-complex,
the polarity switch.
I have a nice new old soldering iron, but even the simplest device has me wondering
-gotta install the GI-20 and see if it wants to play nice

I used to use the IK Stealthpedal, but I've heard it doesn't work on win10 or 11.
Doremidi makes a 1/4" jack to usb you can plug expression pedals into.

yeah,
the internet search turned up issues with the Stealth,
I don't think it's for me
That's interesting, the midi adaptor ty!
Maybe it would be neater than GI-20 or Kore
