Arturia FX Collection 5

On Arturia website it is stated, that you cannot sell the older version after the upgrade/crossgrade. Check the faq.

Maybe they've tighten things up but I was able to sell my V4 license after upgrading to V5. My buyer confirmed that he was able to upgrade from V4 to V5 for 69e. The price implies it was an actual upgrade vs a crossgrade.

EDIT: it's clear in the FAQ that the products are linked, but I was able to sell my license. I had only owned it for a few weeks so it had to be processed manually and maybe whoever did it, wasn't supposed to. In any case, two things can be true simultaneously!

When crossgrading, it's important to notice that the initial license becomes linked to the new license delivered on this occasion.

This means that you won't be able to unregister/transfer one of the products without affecting the other one as well.

you can see under 'products' if and which products are linked.

it is not tight together with FX Collection 4.

in earlier days, Arturia never did chain products, and that was confusing..
nowadays, since 2 years? you can see which products are linked...

if they aren't linked you can sell them seperately of course..

dunno, but if you don't own it it's only 99usd/euro if you have grabbed a few of their freebies. which is a really good price considering what's in there.

Two of my V Collections (4 and 5) say "Crossgrade - Cannot be sold separately."

On the left side, V4 says "V Collection 4 Update", but I bought it outright, and didn't upgrade or crossgrade from anything.
I updated to V8, but it doesn't say 'crossgrade" or "upgrade". It just says "V Collection 8".

My FX Collection doesn't say upgrade or crossgrade, but I have no idea what would happen if I updated it.

In Arturia Terminology when you own say V Collection 6 and Upgrade to say V collection 8 your V Collection 6 will say something like Crossgrade. They do that so you can't transfer the license

Otherwise you could upgrade to the newest version at a deep discount and them turn around and sell the older version which you then no longer own and wouldn't (in their eyes) be entitled to own the newer version at the discounted price you paid for it

If you already have a program, and get the newest version, that's an update.

An upgrade is when you have an entry level program and get the pro version of that same program.

These may not be that common. Of course by fusions this may happen (e.g. iZotope/NI etc.), or in some special cases this kind of crossgrade.

Agree when I got HALion I got a big discount because I owned Omnisphere, I could have used Kontact also for Crossgrade pricing

usually, yes. but not exclusively.
when a company lets you crossgrade to their product from a product by their competition, its a category of crossgrade called a competitive crossgrade.
