The oscillators can be used as modulation sources for anything. Each oscillator is also an fm operator pair. Lots of fm’ingOu_Tis wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 2:36 pmApparently no audio rate oscillator cross-modulation though, which limits its FM capabilities.Korg Supporter wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 11:09 pmI tend to use Icarus more for user wavetables and also because it's more up-to-date. Spire sounds very crisp to my ears (with nice FX too) and is one of the few synths that let you use oscillators as mod sources (which bring decent results)!Ou_Tis wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2024 7:54 pm
Yawn... sounds okay, reverb/delay could be a bit nicer, overall, not impressed. Not hearing anything special in terms of distortion---doesn't sound great in the "Pure Distortion" preset audio.
Might demo myself if they ever add MPE---great per voice distortion would be nice with MPE.
And it seems the developers are still located in Russia. And apparently a lot of the third-party soundbanks are also by people located in Russia. Guess it's basically the major Russian softsynth. For people who don't mind what they spend ultimately going towards taxes for Putin. However I'd guess that most people wouldn't associate the sounds or the presets with support for the current Russian government.

Image Line are from my hometown "Gent" , it's literally 800 meters from where I live.audiojunkie wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 4:21 pm
Imageline are Belgian, if I’m not mistaken—but French speaking. But then again, they were bought, so who knows anymore.
Edit: I am forgetting things these days—Imageline didn’t get bought, Imageline bought UVI and Melda. But they ARE from Belgium, so I at least got that part right.![]()
Gent is in the flamish part of belgium called "Flanders " which is the dutch speaking part of belgium ...
The southern part is called Wallonie and is the french speaking part of La Belgique

Yes, I’m agreed. Putin is an evil man, and he controls Russia, but he is not the Russian people. The vast, vast majority of the people there are good people stuck in a difficult situation. My country is no different—I, a citizen of the United States of America, hate war in all its evil forms. I am horrified of the leaders that get voted into my country’s presidency. I have absolutely no control over anything in my country. I just want to live a peaceful life with my family, and (when I get a little time, make a little music to share with the world, and hang out on KVR. I have no problems with buying plugins from people who live in Russia.
Now, can we please get back on topic?
I use Linux, so my plugins, while more limited, are great! My personal favorites for best sounding come from U-he and TAL. Diva is so lush and dreamy. The brass is amazing! Repro has a nice bite and sounds just like the original (if used with effects). And it is absolutely amazing how great the Zebralette 3 beta sounds with just one oscillator and no filters—it is so hard to be patient for Zebra 3 to come out!
TAL’s Roland recreations are amazingly accurate too! They sound fantastic! The Tal-Sampler is the best I know of when searching for the recreation of that old school sampler sound!
I have been looking amongst the Windows plugins for Synths that I would find that surpass the sound of the plugins I have on linux, but I am able to layer everything I have to create just as dense and moving sounds as any of these complex synths that layer everything in a patch, so I don’t see a need for complex synths—I prefer simple synths that are characteristicly different, but sound great. That’s the key for me.

Let's see how many countries my synths are from: USA (Harmor, Omnisphere, Aurora FM, Toneboosters), Canada (AAS, Plogue Chipsynth stuff), France (Blue Cat, BLEASS), UK (GForce), Japan (KORG stuff), Germany (PPG, OP-X Pro II, Tone2, TAL, NI, and U-he stuff), Netherlands (Martinic), Denmark (KarmaFX), Portugal (Imaginando)

It’s all subjective. Just because I like something doesn’t mean another will feel the same. I hesitate to even go through such an exercise because of the pointlessness of it. However, I’ll post a couple of videos that show a little bit the sounds I personally find pleasing, with hopes that I am being helpful, rather than setting myself up for arguments—which I greatly dislike.Nicolau wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 5:07 pmI only have the demo of Diva, can you tell me such a great brass patch?audiojunkie wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2024 4:59 pm Yes, I’m agreed. Diva is still great, even after all these years. Totally agree.
