Cool examples.

You seems to like very cinematic, classic sounds, have you tried Legend HZ ? I am not much into this area but I would think it kicks some serious ass at this game.

i know there are many Synth vs. Synth and whos better type of threads. However if you ONLY hear for the pur capability/sound of a Synths Oscillator/Sound Quality without looking at features what would the top ten look like?
in that case, i would have to say, a cat.

I’ve heard a lot about it, but I use Linux, and I only buy apps that use a serial number copy protection and don’t call home or tie themselves to something (like hardware). So, my choices are more limited. But that’s fine for the genres of music I do—Dream pop, shoegaze, noisepop, triphop, indie, ethereal, etc, etc. In most of these genres, effects are at least as important as the sounds. 🙂

I do appreciate the suggestion, however!

You still have fabfilter then no? Twin 3 is in my top list of substractive synth.
And fabfilter effects offer a wealth of possibilities.

Just noticed that Fabfilter says they plan on adding MPE to Twin 3 in a 3.1 update. No date announced though.

I'm surprised that Equipboard still doesn't list any artists as using Twin 3---off the top of my head Finneas and Billie Eilish used it on her last album:

"The FabFilter synth preset that inspired the name of Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft was used on one of its songs, and we’re pretty sure we know which one"

I see Equipboard does list 18 artists for Twin 2 though. Including Finneas but not Billie Eilish.

"Armin speaks highly of the FabFilter Twin software synth, calling it very 'unique'."

Huh. Seems like a pretty standard vintage-y virtual analog subtractive synth? As the source for that quote Equipboard links to a Youtube video that "isn't available anymore" on Youtube....

Yes, I do believe Fabfilter products might work. What does Twin3 offer over U-he products though? I plan to get Zebra3 when it comes out.

Twin 3 is a very particular synth. It has a ton of crazy features that you don't expect and also some limitations that frustrated a few people.
It is a simple synth at core but with many many very cool features.

For me the first strength is that is l it is a subtractive synth where you can go surgically with the substraction thanks to the excellent UI and visual feedback. Second the filters are awesome, then you have audio rate modulation (until 4k), excellent sound quality, the unison is also absolutely awesome.
Then you have an iPad version which means you can do presets on the go (so cool).

Of course zebra 3 is a different beast, it may be the synth of the decade.

But let put it this way, Twin 3 is part of my core synths. I have all the major ones including diva and hive but I go very often to twin 3. It is just so productive, simple to use and easy to sound great.

I think U-he etc. should make new synths instead of version 2 or 3 of the same synth that has been around for a decade or more.

Zebra 3 will be a new synth--not backwards compatible. Zebralette, too.

Indeed. :tu: I think Urs and the team he's gathered know exactly what 'needs' to be done for what they want to do, and are doing it.

It should be called Okapi then, not Zebra
