Hey,

I am looking for a collection of classic synth sounds, but not the actual synth engines. I prefer a sample based instrument or a good sample pack to feed my own sampler with.

so far I found Arturia Analog Lab, which looks good, but seems like a product designed to make you upgrade to their pricier plugins - with functions in the interface that are not accessible when you own no other Arturia stuff. Not sure about it...

UVI synth anthology looks very good, but its too pricey for me and here I dislike the platform UVI Workstation where you can access effects, arps, etc... It's too overkill for me. Some basic macro controls would be enough.

Maybe there is a tool for my needs that lives under the radar - so any suggestions are appreciated!

EDIT: https://legowelt.org/samples this is what I was searching!

Many ways to go about it...

There's tons of AKAI & other discs on archive.org nowadays that have vintage synth sounds... You can make your own using HighLife VSTi (for loopers) or say Xlutop chainer or Cantabile Performer for non-loopers with tails...

There are some o archive.org that have collected the samples off many different formats & left them plain WAVs you search over there you won't be disappointed...

IK Syntronik.

Go for specific models if you have something in your mind. Get the old deluxe version if you don't need the new models/deep editing functions.

What is "your own sampler"?
And what is its format?
Assuming wav/sfz? Or?

I use Logics built in Sampler, so yes wav/aiff/... I have an eye on SamplesFromMars, they seem to offer Logic Sampler mapping files together with their samples, which is great.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

https://www.kontaktbanks.com/ These are Kontakt instruments but they come in WAV if you don't run Kontakt. Each package is a classic synth, from Oberheim Matrix to Nord, Virus, Waldorf etc.

https://digitalsoundfactory.com have pretty much every EMU / Ensonique instrument ever, and have ownership of the original EMU samples. These come in EXS format.

If you like them free :) - Roland set their Concerto player free, with access to download a lot of free classic Roland sounds.
