V15 introduces StudioVerse Instruments, which is free (as in beer)
Is it a valid competition to Unify?
How do they compare beside Unifys usage as bridge for non VST3 plugins?
I know, its a marketing move of Waves to make people wup their Waves plugins, but it does load any plugin and could be useful without owning any waves plugin...

Interested in this but it looks as if I have to download all their plugins to try it out? Is it like T-racks, where everything gets installed whether I want it or not?

There is a lot of sizzle in the marketing video, but what does Studioverse do and why would I want it? My takeaway is it allows us to cloud share presets and setups of multiple plugins in a rack? Am I missing something? What else can I accomplish with it? So the Studioverse racks are free, but will only work with v15 waves plugins? How does WUP factor in? But it can work with plugins from other vendors? Maybe?
I may be too cynical, but it just seems like another place for them to cram advertising down my throat, inside the DAW, while they monitor and monetize data they can gather from me by having their hooks into my setup so deeply. It would take years of praise from far corners for me to be even faintly interested.

It does basically look like like a marketplace for their plugins & I’ll be prompted every 2 minutes to buy something. I’ll wait until someone else dives in…

In Waves Central, select the "Install Products" section on the upper left. Then select the "All Products" tab. Scroll down and you can individually install StudioVerse Audio Effects and/or StudioVerse Instruments. Reboot and rescan. When it asks to login via the web, do so. Ignore any error messages after logging in. I don't subscribe to Creative Access (perpetual licenses instead). This approach worked fine here. Alas, not very intuitive in terms of the steps to follow. But you can avoid the Demo version and all the associated plugins that would otherwise get installed with the demo.

I thought it was just a preset browser for their plugins, does it host VST's as well like Unify ?Tj Shredder wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2024 3:50 am V15 introduces StudioVerse Instruments, which is free (as in beer)
Also where do you get your free beer ?

Its basically Studiorack, plus a version that hosts synths (multiple if you want, like Bluecat Patchwork and Reason's Combinator). 8 macros, multiband split, parallel channels. Its honestly super useful to have in DAWs like Logic and Pro Tools. You can collapse the cloud sharing preset thingy and tell it to be tucked away on start up. Essentially pretending like its not there. You don't have to use any, or own any of their plugins to use it. You can use just VST3's if you want.
Its a great tool, especially now that you can host and stack multiple synths into a single playback.

Interesting I might give it a look, the marketing suggested it was just a browser/database of presets for their different plugins but sounds much more interesting if it's a plugin wrapper/host for multi combo's of synths

You can see just how powerful and convenient this could be.Digivolt wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2024 8:31 pm Interesting I might give it a look, the marketing suggested it was just a browser/database of presets for their different plugins but sounds much more interesting if it's a plugin wrapper/host for multi combo's of synths

All things that can be done in Logic. Fold multiple instrument tracks into a track stack and save that track stack as a preset in your user library.
Sure.. if you’re using a DAW that is very limited in that regard then I see this could be convenient for you. But plenty of DAWs already offer this functionality.

- you don't have to use WUP
- you don't have to download all Waves plugins
- it ads multiband processing which is very cool
- works for Waves plugins and vst3 third party
- you don't have to use the cloud preset thing, just make your own super-patches
- it is free and useful to conveniently make FX racks or Instrument & FX patches and add macros
