I have some old stereo recordings that have their channel alignment pretty much messed up in some places. I know Adobe Audition has a feature called automatic phase correction that is capable of doing automatic channel alignment and center panning. Is there any VST plugin that would be capable of doing the same thing?

Thanks. But $85 is quite a lot. Isn't there anything cheaper?

SideMinder is a possible option. I use the ZL version (zero latency) and it works well with most material. It's not an automatic delay, it's more like completely transparent mid/side compression.

Melda MFreeFormPhase and Voxengo Correlometer are both free ...

Dragging this thread back up to the top for the release of RJ Studios Sideminder Max, yet another one in that series of plugins that doesn't get talked about that much.

This one is spectral, so like multiband to the extreme. The controls are only for four general ranges with fixed frequencies -- I might have liked to adjust the bands, but in practice it seems to work pretty well. (If I really need to get surgical with mid/side stuff, CraveEQ is probably the better tool to work with.) The master width gain slider is nice to have, and playing with automating the sliders can be neat.

I'm in the process of mastering some stuff that already is fairly good about mono compatibility, and it's helped to add a little bit more polish, so I went ahead and bought the license.

the MP3 codec like effects from the correlation algo sounds pretty awful, lol. it might be useful as an effect, but like most spectral things, i don't see it making its way on to any mixdowns, and especially not masters. same reason i don't like Recenter, although that one arguably sounds worse than this offering (the weird MP3 stuff is mostly kept to the stereo delta with this one)

I didn't hear anything like that in my testing, but maybe it depends on the material you run through it. To be fair, what I'm working on now is pretty noisy stuff.
