I can't find any info on this (and I assume there is a reason)...

Can I use Apple Loops with any program on a PC? I own both a Mac and PC and want to buy the ProPacl for Garageband to use in Soundtrack. But it would be sweet if I could use it on my PC, too...

Anyone?

I thought Apple loops were just aiff files, if so something like Acid will support them. Don't take my word for it though, I've never tried to use any.

Hm...a bit expensive for me. I was hoping to use the loops in Live, FL or Tracktion, with (dream on) nativ support :) or at least some conversion tool.

Ehmmm... Run a midi cable from the PC to the Mac, and an audio cable from the Mac into the PC. Maybe that works, get the idea?

Apple Loops are enhanced aiff files, with BPM, key, and beat slicing info included in the file. The same guy that created Acid Loops is behind the Apple Loops format. You should be able to use them as regular audio files in other programs, just as you would Acid loops.

There are no apps outside Garage Band, and Logic that can read the Apple Loops format at the moment.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Did you try to load those loops in Acid Xpress or however the free ACID-version is called, you can't export wav-files with that version but you could use your soundcards patchbay or whatever (look for "virtual audio cable") to record those tracks outside Acid then.

I've used my Apple Loops in Sonar and Live4 without issues. In Sonar you need to make them Grooveclips manually, and Live just loops them like they were made for it. This is all on a PC BTW. You won't get the specific features from the Apple Loops format, (BPM, key, and beat slicing info) but they will be usable otherwise. I've found them quite useful myself.
