Can I connect VMPK to Diva Synth?

I want to know if I can connect DIVA synth to Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard

then use my physical midi controller to play VMPK which is connected to DIVA Synth.
My OS is : linux mint. :lol: :lol:

Sure. But you need a VST Host to route the midi messages from the virtual keyboard (via ALSA) to Diva.

Im sorry I thought the physical midi controller by itself doesn't do anything because you know its just acontroller... is this correct?

Yeah, the midi controller emits midi messages like note on & note off. Any DAW can route those to synth plugins which in turn emit audio you can hear.

Overall tho I should have no trouble connecting any physical midi controller to linux and most programs will recognize it right? i wanna know before dumping money on a midi controller

You'll be fine, as long as you buy a MIDI controller that advertises itself to be "class compliant."

Look for "class-compliant" if the controller does everything over USB.
Old-fashioned midi over a 5-pole DIN plug into an audio interface (with ofcourse MIDI I/O via 5-pole DIN as well) should be no problem.

Last time I saw a non-class-compliant USB audio interface was... well, I don't think I ever did.
