Whoever is in charge they don't seem to have any strong guiding principles for what they're trying to do. They released the RRP then almost immediately sunsetted the only way to get it that made financial sense for people who didn't want the DAW. They also pissed off their DAW users by not really giving them anything new and discontinuing Suite. They introduced the sub, which was A Big Deal and pushed it as a way to get either the plugin or the DAW, and deemphasized the permanent licenses on the site. Around that same time they hid the store on the site and chased off a lot of their remaining RE developers, another blow for a plugin that only supports REs. Now they release an update to the DAW, but not anything anybody wanted, and seem to be promoting permanent licenses more alongside the sub. It's like they're throwing everything at the wall in rapid succession and nothing is sticking.jens wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 8:44 pmSorry, but I really can't imagine the investors actually looking at features at all. That's totally not what investors do or what they would have a minute to spare on. The CEO? Yes, totally and dude is obviously a complete tool. The investors trust him and will at some point write that off as a failure. Dude will then move on to gamble another company's fate.crimsonwarlock wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 7:29 pm Mattias is the one who chooses which things can be done, but the CEO/investors are the ones who decide IF something will be done.

By the way, I don't completely understand, then why don't they look at the polls?
sequencer poll On the feature request forum on ReasonTalk, after sorting by views, the do something with the browser, and the ones shown above are the ones that make sense. So, they did something with the browser, although it might have been pointless. But what about these?
let's say by view count, this one is by far the winner. Well, yes, based on the above, and if they went down to the 19-point requests, they could have put together a pretty good release.

3 years to come up with a browser and some copies of free REs smh. And it has a major bug: VST3 plugins have a bad memory leak. How did that get past quality control? That should have been fixed day 1.
Even the browser, the thing they seem proud of, is half-finished. Nobody on the development team actually uses this software, I'm sure. If they did, they would have noticed "Hey, not having favorites for devices is a pain in the ass" or "Why have tags if you can't make your own tags" or "I use so many samples, I want to drag them in from a docked browser" and so on.
One day maybe they will fix some of these things, but for 3 years development this is actually unbelievable.

He probably means Mattias looked through the long list of user requests, ignored all those requests and decided it was of greater need to create some native devices already covered by free REs:
Gain Tool - KHS Gain
Stereo Tool - KHS Stereo
Sidechain Tool - PUMP
Gain Tool - KHS Gain

I don't get why they still haven't added other console types for the mixer. Seems like such an open goal.

lol, Mattias looks so proud and sure of himself, arrogant even, while Ludvig looks so disheartened (he almost said "[Mattias knows] what we want").hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 6:42 pm It's time to talk about the real problem behind Reason Studios - Mattias Häggström Gerdt. "I say it would really be good if we had a new browser or we refreshed the sequencer and then Ludvig with Andy do the hard work, [coming up with] the vision for that". Much of what he says sounds really disingenuous and presentational (I mean interested only in presenting himself in a good light).
I tried Reason for some time and the reason (lol) I'm at all engaging in this topic is that I really *loved* it. It brings a visceral experience that no other DAW has. And I would love to use it, but with the current direction, that would feel like feeding money to some deeply overweight capitalist royalty whose only intention is to just get most of it with the least effort possible. Slimy. An instance of "voting with your money".
Brzzzzzzt.

What do you mean with that? Do you think the mixer was an SSL console emulation? It isn't.loungepanda wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 6:54 am I don't get why they still haven't added other console types for the mixer. Seems like such an open goal.

I think the same, maybe sometimes you have to give up your seat when you realize it's not working anymore. It's going down with this software this way, isn't it? Fresh air and, above all, someone who can take the DAW further would be really great.elnn wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:31 amlol, Mattias looks so proud and sure of himself, arrogant even, while Ludvig looks so disheartened (he almost said "[Mattias knows] what we want").hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 6:42 pm It's time to talk about the real problem behind Reason Studios - Mattias Häggström Gerdt. So this is directly adressed to (CEO? Matthias? Other guy?) - whoever is responsible for this development catastrophes over the last years:
Please let someone else takeover who actually makes music within the DAW on a semi-professional level!

I’ve been a loyal Reason user since version 3.
This is the first time I have zero interest in upgrading.
New browser feels horrible and amateurish.
New devices look awful and out of place in the rack.
New synth sounds incredibly bland
New delay sounds like it was an afterthought put together with stock RE modules. It sounds cheap, brings nothing new and is terribly designed with tiny controls and outdated mod matrix.
Removal of Device favorites is a joke.
The slight GUI updates are just embarrassing. Like they tried to copy Ableton Live, but don’t have the designers or tech to do an actual optimized modern interface.
I’m done with Reason.

Same here. I suggest MuLab and Reaper. Your mileage may vary. I however am stumped with what is possible once you are outside.fceramic wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 8:55 am I’ve been a loyal Reason user since version 3.

I'm not "done" with Reason, but a look at a neighboring thread (beta of Ableton Live 12.1) is enough to see what others deliver as a minor update, and what Reason Studios (Propellerheads) have failed to do in several major releases.

Reason updates since V10 to 13 has been Minor and is what other Daw companies release as free updates or as a cheap .5 update.Crossinger wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 1:44 pm I'm not "done" with Reason, but a look at a neighboring thread (beta of Ableton Live 12.1) is enough to see what others deliver as a minor update, and what Reason Studios (Propellerheads) have failed to do in several major releases.
I am not done with Reason either but will stay on V.12 until they release a update worth paying for.
With V.13 they did add the Free floating Tool window into the Sequencer and made the Browser Free floating instead which takes up alot more space than the Tool Window so that is a big step backwards for my use.
The new Browser does also break my custom made Refill/Soundbank setup from V1 to 12 so i will loose track of where the sounds i want are.

I doubt the new delay is build that way (not saying you're implying that ) but you never know with this company
