On https://www.steinberg.net/spectralayers/ click "Buy SpectraLayers 11" then "Buy SpectraLayers Pro 11" and then select "Competitive Crossgrade".

And it shows me the price as 199€? Or does the right price come after clicking "Begin verification process"?

Post

Yes the crossgrade price is 199€ (instead of 299€).

Thanks, that's what I thought. It was under 120€ on 13th June. Unfortunately I missed this detail. Here's waiting for the next Steinberg sale :-)

1. i got V10 Pro and my updateprice is 68 bucks, was it cheaper?
2. is it worth for just stem splitting to update?

thx

1. It's the -15% discount price right now (68), but that discount is gonna end very soon (possibly tomorrow or in a couple days, I don't remember the exact date)
2. Vocals separation quality improved significantly, separation of other stems improved as well, and it brings additional stems separation : sax & brass, lead vocals/back vocals, and additional drums separation. You can listen to several stems separation examples here : https://divideconcept.github.io/Unmix-Comparison/

The 11.0.10 patch is out with as promised, lots of fixes and improvements in there :)

And if you'd like to dig deeper into SpectraLayers, I just did a 2 hours conference about its background story, a large overview of its possibilities in an audio forensics context, and how it's been used in civil trials in California:

thanks a lot! i also updated few days ago and didnt test it much yet but one thing i hope got fixed which is really heavy and might be also not healthy for notebooks/pcs.
i started to unmix a song on EXTREME settings, then after 10 minutes i cancelled it. but it didnt want to cancel, i waited 3-4 minutes and it still didnt cancel then windows said the app isnt responding and i closed it. my notebook still was heating up and heavily spinning and loud. EVEN after a restart it was totally overloaded and i had to shut the pc down to get the hardware back to normal. i never had this before and warned people atm to use these settings.

Very interesting talk. Do you know if Steinberg have any plans to offer SDK versions of any of these tools? I can see speaker unmixing and de-noising being particularly valuable for some of the criminal justice scenarios I work with.

I did a comparison with RX against SpectraLayers on various modules which saw some interesting results:

Do you think with the new version of Spectralayers they will upgrade Spectrallayers version in Cubase?

Post

In order to run the free version of SpectraLayers 11 you'll need Cubase 14 or Nuendo 14.
However you can run SpectraLayers Pro 11 in any version of Cubase, Nuendo and other DAWs.
