Which one of these best to get for mastering ?
Sonible SmartEQ vs Gulfoss vs Ozone 11’s “auto eq” type of modules like: clarity / Impact / EQ / stabilizer ?

Ozone 11 EQ is free which makes it really nice. SmartEQ is good but you don't get much editing ability. I trialed Gulfoss and thought it was interesting but as I am mostly EQing vocals it seemed overkill.

Ozone is the old workhorse, but I worry since Neutron can throw up some latency (47.9 ms). SmartEQ is good, but I think Gulfoss sounded thicker (if that makes any sense)

Gullfoss is lovely but a bit subtle, and shines on the master channel and with acoustic material. Soothe is more versatile on individual tracks, particularly with extreme/electronic source material. If I just need to tame a few peaks I like TDR Nova in dynamic mode.
I didn’t care for SmartEQ. It seems like the AI was trained on rock instrumentation and gave odd results on other material, and the resonance reduction was just OK.

Ozone Stabilizer with a pink noise profile does the trick for me.

Sonible SmartEQ is use on busses , as I like itS group functionality .
On master gravitate to either Ozone Stabilizer with a pink noise profile or TEOTE.
But one hidden GEM I use for automatic tonal balancing ,
on all my individual tracks is HORNET Thirtyone MK2.

So, I got ozone 11 advanced, after using it for few weeks I noticed that it's auto features only make things brighter and often worse, it's more usable by tweaking each module individually, and even then sometimes I prefer the bypassed version. Ozone just doesn't work for me. But I really like the limiter.

Back up the auto settings if you are using them, that's what I noticed when trying them out, they go way too far. Around half of what it suggested, was the amount really needed.. I ditched the automatic system during first day and continue to use my earsTS-12 wrote: Thu Jul 04, 2024 3:45 am So, I got ozone 11 advanced, after using it for few weeks I noticed that it's auto features only make things brighter and often worse, it's more usable by tweaking each module individually, and even then sometimes I prefer the bypassed version. Imager, sometimes exciter, and limiter are in heavy use.

I opted to have Gullfoss with Ozone, I think it does it better.

Very different tools for different purposes. Sonible is an AI based EQ that adjusts frequencies based on genre. It can also be used in a sub group setting (for example, for drums and percussion) to duck certain frequencies and push others forward. You can also use it 'just' as an EQ by clicking on nodes and making adjustments. It is quite powerful in the right hands, and even has a dynamic EQ mode. It is not a magic bullet that fixes everything. G'foss is more subtle and is best used on an already good mix to nudge it into the 'sounds like a record' domain. It is a complimentary processor, not essential, but useful if you know what you are doing. Ozone is similar to Sonible, but different, if you know what I mean. None of these tools will 'give' you a finished product, and all of them will, if you have a strong basic mix with good levels and balance.

Now I've played with Ozone for a week, I really like it. My only caveat is what someone mentioned earlier. You have to set it to tame highs and res or it can get crunchy. Love the depth of the lows.

I also use 31 mk2 on the master bus. It’s adaptive and does seem to hit the sweet spots.
