Are there DAW(s) that can replicate my 3 favorite Bitwig features but also support video?

Hi - I've DAW-hopped a fair bit over the years and really like Bitwig, but feel the need to commit to focus on a single platform and, as I do a bit of work for short films, I need a marker track and sync to video. My favorite Bitwig features aren't really headline-grabbing and it's entirely possible that software I already own has or has added these features and I don't know how to search for them ...
1) Saving VST controller mappings at the VST preset level. As far as I can tell, other DAWs let you use default mappings for a given plugin, but I use some Reason, Reaktor, and Soundtoys VSTs that can have varied controls available for different instrruments/effects/etc -
2) MIDI/NoteFX on the same track as the instrument (I've read that Reaper has this. Routing MIDI to different tracks if I want to use, for example, a Reason player with a Kontakt instrument is a drag ...
3) Creative Note FX - I like some of the physics-based NoteFX in Bitwig for oddball inspiration (e.g. Dribble, Ricochet). I could use a VST (rather than DAW) alternative if you have recommendations, but as noted in #2 I love the workflow/usability of having everything on one track.
Thanks for any input!

Hi,
I've never tried it, I just saw the announcement of the support, so out of curiosity, what was the problem with Touch Designer
https://www.bitwig.com/stories/touchdes ... ected-273/
or
vidplay also supports it https://vidplayvst.com/bitwig.htm

Thanks, xbitz. These solutions allow for simple starting and stopping of a video, which is better than nothing. What's missing, or seems to be missing as far as I can tell, from these solutions is a proper marker track so I can clearly mark events in the video and ramp the tempos such that the music (e.g. "the end of bar 5") aligns to scene changes that are locked in time (e.g. " the hero walks into the room").xbitz wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2024 6:50 am Hi,

You aren't able to use arrange cue markers to mark your, er, cues? They may not be specific to video, but every DAW has something like that.
When I was animating a video for one of my songs, I write the cues all out on a piece of paper, which found its way into the trash, so the video was never finished. Which is probably a good thing as I discovered I'm a crap animator.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

My two favorite DAWs don't quite have the functionality I'm looking for. Bitwig has cue markers, but, unless I'm reading the manual wrong, these markers are locked to the tempo grid - e.g. if I set a marker at bar 5, the marker moves (in time) if I change the tempo. DAWs like Studio One and Cubase have a proper marker track where I can lock a marker at, say, 18 seconds and then manipulate the tempo from there. Typically this is how I'll work with video: start with creating markers and then find tempos that work to connect them (in fact, this is often a tedious part of the job - finding fractional tempos so the music changes at just the right spot).
Reason doesn't have cue markers at all!

Ah. That makes then rather useless them. I'd want to calculate a tempo that hit all the beats on time. Just so the producers can demand a new cut that changes the whole timing of the movie.

Possibly Waveform? Worth a try, anyway.

From my experience, for number 1 and 2, you could use Mulab 9. Number 3 UVI falcon and HY plugins have amazing sequencers/arps/etc. I'll sometimes run the Mu-Lab vst in a host (Studio One or Bitwig for me) then inside Mulab i'll do all the routing, chaining of VSt/clap plugins, then manage the audio output, arranging in the host.

you've probably already tried Cakewalk (and the new Sonar then) where you can have multiple time rulers setup - HMSF for the video (display) markers and MBT for the working up the tempo map and markers.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks for these replies - Waveform, MuLab, and Bandlab have all been off of my radar. Definitely worth a demo - especially if Mulab checks boxes 1 and 2 for me.
