The DX7 didnt have any Effects nor Granularity.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

No, it's the sound your soul makes after the cat has been saved, the culprits imprisoned, and a warm, peaceful quiet overtakes you, and it lasts for so long that it starts nagging at your nerves, harshing with good intentions, "magical" chakras, and slow, wavy phasers that won't STFU--to the point where you'd rather be a disemboweled cat.kritikon wrote: Mon Apr 29, 2024 11:54 pm Ambient music, isn't that the noise made when they're extracting the intestinal lining from the cat to make violin strings?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Really loving Dawesome Abyss for droning textured pads with interesting movement although it's almost too easy
Beyond that, stuff like Baby Audio Atoms is great for creating deep drones, great to resample and throw in a granular.
Also, Vital- I like to use a few oscillators as a base pad and then use LFO pitch modulation with pitch locking to a scale, modulating the phase of the LFO with a random to get some unpredictable melodic touch floating around.

I like ROMplay 2 by Electronik Sound Lab. It's free, and it's older but unfortunately a tiny-bit buggy (the LFO Depth and Cutoff knobs sometimes change when I don't want them to). It has some keys, pads and synths that might be a good start for ambient music. ROMplay 2 is my go-to for trying out ambient at the moment, despite the 2 knobs occasionally misbehaving.
Another synth I like for ambient music is Cosmic by Audiolatry. This one isn't free (I got it during a sale), but it has 61 presets, all pads, that are useful for sci-fi or outer-space oriented ambient music.
