More info:
You will need to maintain your subscription in order to continue to access the LABS+ libraries in new projects. However, your old projects that use those libraries will continue to work if you do not renew (including responding to automation), you just won't be able to adjust the parameters in the plugin or load new patches. As of right now there is no way to purchase individual LABS libraries to continue to use without a subscription.
This is all per Spitfire support who answered some questions I had. They should really include this info somewhere on the LABS+ site.

Sounds fair to me. One of the biggest complaints about subscriptions is the fact that if a subscription ends, you'll lose access to everything.parma wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 6:41 am However, your old projects that use those libraries will continue to work if you do not renew (including responding to automation), you just won't be able to adjust the parameters in the plugin or load new patches.

It's an interesting solution. Still, other subscriptions will allow you to "earn" a specific number of plugins after you maintain the subscription for a certain amount of time. Yum Audio is doing something like this. After a year subscription you get $120 to go towards the purchase of perpetual licenses. I suggested to Spitfire that they do something similar where you get to keep some number of libraries perpetually after subscribing for some set amount of time. Or "unlock" the ability to purchase a certain number of libraries for a modest fee after you've been subscribed for a time.

Let me get this straight... the stuff that was previously freely available remains free, and for all other libraries you need the subscibtion, but you can no longer customize the sounds in the old project once this has expired?

I wouldn't say that sounds unfair. Especially because you dont have to fork out a lot of money for the new paid items when you normally have to buy a whole library. Let's see how that develops.

Does the Spitfire installer automatically replace the old LABS with the new LABS+ upon launch?
Do all libraries install in their correct locations, or are some missing or mis-labeled?

LABS+ has its own plugin. I'm not sure if you can open the old free libraries within the new plugin. My old trusty Mac Pro is stuck on 10.13 and OS 11 is the minimum requirement for LABS+ so I'm unable to demo it.

They really need to post minimum system requirements. I downloaded the 14 day trial only for the installer to say "nope, sorry". I was leaning towards giving the subscription a try too. Oh well. Something to look forward to whenever I decide to get a new silicon Mac

They haven't gone subscription for their whole range of products.egbert101 wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 8:44 am Subscription is a terrible idea. I won't have anything to do with Spitfire Audio now.
This is one side-project with monthly packs. It's an option next to their other commercial products.
