If you can't stand his voice you may want to skip to 'What's it sound like?' (12:07)
Very interesting. I am guessing the 'corrupt' pots are like the big knob on the Turing Machine that I'm building - turning clockwise increases the frequency of pattern changes.
A nice generative sequencer if eight steps is enough for you (may be able to chain the two, we don't know yet).

Fixed

Is it aimed at drum synth market? Might just be that's the foible of this particular reviewer but he seemed to assume it's for drum mashing, and the noise generator with sequencer seems to follow through. Which makes it a narrow market IMO. Looking at the controls, it should be usable for musical stuff, no? But does it even have midi? If not...then it's purely for the modular market (even the Behringer ones have midi as basic even if they have all kinds of CV controls as option). I love my weird synths but modular is not my thing at all. But if it's for the modular crowd...why semi-modular? That limits the modular crowd's interest also, surely? Not sure I can see any particular market for this...and this demo makes it sound kinda meh. Boing, boing, splat, hiss - I'll pass thanks.

Have sporadically entertained getting a DFAM since it came out, but this, may well be my first Moog acquisition. Labyrinth has MIDI in (clock and note). :tu:

Maybe the aim is to add it to a DFAM which is more boom, tish?

Really though, it's supposed to be a take on west coast synthesis (buchla?), so maybe not so obviously musical.

Supposed to be officially launched July 11th

This dude has posted several videos toying with it. He is new to eurorack/modular, so not a genuine informed walk-through, but some juicy sounds in there, to be sure. Given these leaks, and Moog announcing a release date, it would be nice (if not smart) to just give their official gear testers/recipients permission to release their demo/walk-through videos, prior to launch, IMHO.

I'm interested in this. When I spoke to my friend, he said the filter isn't a standard Moog ladder and the wavefolder is their own design. I was anticipating that this would be a bit weirder than other Moog modules and it doesn't disappoint... I'm not sure if it's weird enough as I have a few of shift register based modulators, wave folders and LPGs but it does seem to have a unique sound. :tu:

And we have a launch! 8) :D

I'm totally sold on it now :hyper: though I can't help but feel there was a "missed opportunity" that would have given it seriously expanded functionality/appeal, and Moog (in general) a PR boost, by making it uniquely 'topical' amongst the eurorack crowd. Namely, having included a 16-pin ribbon cable adapter on the back, to facilitate connecting the ubiquitous Turing Machine's Pulses, Voltages, and Volts expanders. I suspect however, that there will be an upsurge in those items (and Turing Machine{s} in general) being discussed, as a result of this release. :tu:

Yea, it feels weird now that I know what this 'Labyrinth' is all about in that there is a collective push towards the same thing... I almost wish I wouldn't have bought the kit and waited for this to come out now. But I am pretty sure I will get one of these so less pressure on soldering correctly I guess.

Makes me continue to want more shift registers in my rack.

Happy to accept unwanted Turing Machines will pay postage ;)
