Not much of a time-waster as they already had most of the software written.

Well, I guess they can say they added 'something' new after all this time...but I don't think it will attract many new users or appease existing users, so not sure what good it will do them. I am in the same position I was before, I now own all the Roland stuff I wanted and they are not adding anything new I wanst...so no point subscribing to get lifetime keys, nothing worth owning.

Cherry Audio also has one. I have so many other delays besides the Space Echo types, it's like delay-mania in my plugins folder.

I have a fresh PC build that has never had the Roland Cloud installed on it. Windows 11, I9, 64gb of RAM, 4tb internal SSD drives 1gb for C, and another 1TB and 2GB

Figured since I could get 30 days free Ultimate Sub I would try Space Echo

RCM doesn't even load, just a spinning orange circle for 60 seconds or so, then some kind of cryptic message about a failed user log upload

Why are we discontinuing
Sound Canvas VA?

Unlike other instruments and effects on Roland Cloud, Sound Canvas VA was built on an older framework that we are no longer able to adequately support. This is especially true as the various OS platforms and plug-in hosts demand regular updates for compatibility and performance.

Don’t worry, if you’ve purchased Sound Canvas VA as a Lifetime Key, you’ll have access to the product forever. But keep in mind that there will be no further updates.

Discontinuing the development of the current Sound Canvas VA instrument will allow us to maintain other instruments and effects on Roland Cloud more easily and address the creative needs of the Sound Canvas community in the future. Sound Canvas will be available in membership and as a Lifetime Key purchase until September 1, 2024.

It would be nice if they offered us a Lifetime Key for one of their maintained products in exchange for Sound Canvas VA. We have been waiting for years for an update. Now we are being told that there will be none.

i cannot take them seriously anymore, they say since months and years they will update it and they cannot update such a rompler? even freeware guys can get new romplers done but not Roland Cloud lol

I just received the email from RC announcing the Sound Canvas news. If they aren't going to develop it anymore and after Sept 1st, won't sell it anymore, they should sell it for cheap (maybe around 50% off) until that date.

Maybe down the road they will just offer it for free (for a limited time) like they did with Concerto/Anthology.

What's amazing is right now you can go on the product page and buy it, there is no mention that it's a discontinued product that will have zero support moving forward

Oh, wow! The Cloud Manager apparently wants me to restart my computer each time I want to use Roland Cloud with Reason 12 on my macOS 14.5. That is really not convenient!

That's a pretty lame excuse. If it's old, then port the code to the new framework. They already have (supposedly) the framework (JV1080, XV5080, etc.), they have the soundset, how difficult could it be to port it?

OH well, I guess this is the typical Roland behavior: launch it, cash it, drop it.

the endless embarassing, customer unfriendly roland cloud never stops to go down deeper and deeper and Jon cannot come up with better excuses etc. guys do what i did, unsubscribe if you want and show this crap cloud it is not worth it. even on facebook it seems some more people complain.
i see NOT A SINGLE effort instead they start to discontinue products.
