I just bought a cheap Acoustic pack for this, it comes with a free TH-U Overloud Essentials . It was under $20 in the current sale and you get some good stuff with the freebie

I must say I'm really impressed with the quality, it sounds better than a lot of my other options.

What's with those presets though ? I get 179 presets to sift through, of course I don't own many of the devices so it's a slog to sift through just to find the ones I do own.

Any tips for working with the preset bank?

I do recommend giving this a try if you haven't, sound quality wise

EDIT also it doesn't remember where you've scrolled in the presets if you go to the DAW and back in again...hmmn weird

For me TH-U is one of the best cab sims around, I have a few of the Jensen IR pkgs that I use and like a lot. Thats pretty much all I use it for. I wish they would make a standalone IR loader as opposed to integrating it into TH-U as well, since most of the UI functionality for me is only there to serve the store which I'm not overly fond of. It does seem not good at recalling presets and whatnot.

What was your impression of the Rig Player?
For me, THU was (still is?) a bit of a design mess.
Massive quantity of presets but no useful categorisation,
Massive options to ‘Amp Tweak’ ..with no discernible effect.
And the Fender, Vox and Marshall amp tones kinda sound the same imo. (Or used to anyway)
Badly needs a GUI designer to give it a makeover imo.

If u meant me, yea i dont like it. cumbersome
and cheesy, would be my synopsis.

Well put . :tu: my thoughts also.
Man that RigPlayer was sooo hyped up on release and on forums and it sounded like crap imo.
No idea why Overloud is rated so highly tbh.
It had the same 3-4 tones across all the models also imo it’s like the devs are thing to hide that with so many bells and whistles :?

I really like the 2 Acoustic packs, which is not a well covered area (I've tried about every acoustic-sweetening plug-in out there that I could find) . I haven't really tried the other stuff yet (you get an essentials version, and a 15 day trial, with the packs).

I had a quick browse, nothing exactly terrible IMO, need more time with it.

I do think the preset browser is badly in need of re-design. Wading through a billion presets to find the stuff you want/own isn't fun, it need a favourites option and menu.
Also the GUI has black buttons on dark grey (maybe there's an option to change that which I haven't found yet but that's not good)

Its awful looking the whole thing imo.
But if you think that’s bad you should have seen THU2 .. hands down most confusing layout. Ever.
Line 6 ‘Pod farm ‘looks better than Overloud. And that’s ancient now.

Sounds better too.

POD Farm looks much better than Line 6 Helix Native, which is a greater concern.

The 2024 Made in Rock 3-pack and 2022 TH-U Rockguy expansion are the right places to start with TH-U. Those represent Overloud's most advanced modelling tech with Made in Rock using their latest fluid profiling

TH-U Premium has some of the most detailed stomp models of any Sim and can work really well in front of ToneX Amp Profiles and Brainworx Ampegs.

- Klon Centaur
- Dytronics CS-5 Rack Chorus
- Eventide H3000 Micro Pitch preset
- EHX Smallstone Phaser
Intel Core2 Quad CPU + 4 GIG RAM

their RigPlayer was hyped up on release as amazing new modelling/ profiling tech also..

Aaah, I have a few Hornet things, but that slipped under the radar.....also Hornet are doing another July code sale (on their home page) so it's cheap...also going to pick up 'Sleek' which I've been eyeing up

Yeah the Marshall sounds decent I guess. But tbh there like 100 decent Marshall sims on the market . It’s from LZ’s touring gear, cool but is it a ‘great’ one .. Sounds like a stock 50watt to me.

They should have a crack at a Dumble, Trainwreck, Dr, Z .. yknow the ‘amazing’ stuff.
Give us a sim of his Supro Thunderbolt please, or even Supro’s reissue Black Magik amp.

The AC30 sounds pretty good :tu:
Bit of a difference in sound to the record tho thought comparing clips.sounds more like a 90s Marshall to me on record.
Shame they didn’t dime the amp gain in the demo and hear it full whack!
