Alternative concept of frequency bands - subs, tone, noise

An Alternative concept of frequency bands apart from lows, mids and highs is to think in frequency bands of subs, tone and noise.

1 Hz to 64 Hz subs (felt frequencies)

64-150 Hz lowend tone (energy of the mix, weight of the fundamental notes)

64 Hz to 3000 Hz tone

3000 Hz to 20000 Hz noise (you ll hear that clearly when you engage a waterfall HP filter on a sound at 3000 Hz)

I have made good experiences with using these bands as a side chain band for Multiband Dynamics across the ENTIRE frequency range.

What are your experiences with these frequency bands ?
Are you using other frequency band concepts and what are they about ?

Best, Mario

I use several types of frequency bands depending on what I'm doing, like Blauert's ribbons (mainly for M/S processing) or the equivalent rectangular bandwith scale (for multi-band dynamics).

WackyZoundz, thank you. I think I found something related to ERB scale. Could you send me some link regarding the first one ?

Blauert's ribbons: https://second.wiki/wiki/blauertsche_bc3a4nder

Great for M/S EQing and reverb shaping. It also explains why cuts in the first presence band make music less obnoxious because it creates some sort of distance to the listener.

Interesting article. ^^^ Thanks.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil
