I don't really see why, since chorus tends to be added at the very end of the signal chain anyway. You're really limiting yourself if you choose a synthesizer based on the chorus effect.
I don't like external effects. I like to save patches complete with FX. So, if the built-in chorus sounds fine, why use an external one?!

I'm not partial to any tbh. Flanger on the other hand, lush hands down.

I never really know what the difference is. The frequency?

Flangers also have feedback; choruses usually don't. I still don't understand what exactly an ensemble is. Apparently it is more than just a double chorus. I've never been able to fully recreate the Solina ensemble sound.

I'm not trying to make trouble, but what difference does it make which softsynths have the best chorus? As you can see, the suggestions here are all over the synthesis map, and there is no general consensus as to which one has the "best" chorus (which would be subjective, anyway).

With everything from wavetable to VA to sample playback to other types of synthesis, you'll be extremely hard-pressed to get the same initial sound out of each plug-in, regardless of the chorus you add afterward. So the "best" chorus on TAL's emulation of a Juno synth won't sound the same as the chorus on Vital's wavetable synth, since the initial sounds won't even be close (unless all you're using these synths for are sawtooth wave pads, in which case, I withdraw my comment and wish you luck).

Kepler sounds like crap until you turn on the chorus.

I adore the chorus in Model 84, though you can't use both modes at the same time :/

The chorus in Imaginando's DRC synth is phenomenal and makes its already analog sound more lively and fluid!

my fave standalone is the fluffy little something chorus.

The multi-effect version of z3ta+ includes a versatile chorus in a useful gui. Good for guitars and synths.

That's true, the z3ta+ has a nicely sounding chorus.
