Hello KVR users,

Im looking for a simple filter plugin with good visual representation of whats happening.

Morph EQ and UVI Shade are too overkill for my usecase. I mainly want to perform filter movements using my laptop touchpad in realtime, so moving filter points in relation to eachother would be great.

AD Filterstation 2 looks good for that but lacks visualization of the applied modulation. Fabfilter Simplon could fit my needs, though at least one built in LFO would be nice, but thats not vital.

Im gonna demo it and ask you in the meantime if you know any other tools (for mac, m-chip native) that I shoud check out.

Shouldn’t your daw come with one? Ableton’s one is fine for me most of the time.

oh, I see you wanted to actually visualise the modulation as it happens... my bad

Logics Autofilter has no good visualization imo. For now I fiddle around in my parametric stock EQ and it works, but still am interested in tools that improve the way I can perform filter point movements..

Simplon. Doesn't get more accurate as to what you're looking for, lol.

"FabFilter Simplon is a simple, analog-sounding filter plug-in. Available in VST, VST3, AU, CLAP, AAX and AudioSuite formats for Windows and macOS."

EDIT: Ah, didn't notice you already had it in mind in your initial post. Yes, modulation only thing missing!

Simplon has been my go-to for my most basic filtering needs for many years. If you need to modulate it, you can simply use your DAW's automation tools.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

I really enjoy FAT 2. It's very nice sounding.

Would ToneBoosters Dual VCF be what you're looking for? It has drawable modulation, envelope detection and the filter shape and movement is visualized in real time. It doesn't display the incoming wave/spectrum though if that is what you wanted.

It's incredibly simple and sounds great with overdrive. Been a while since I used it so can't really recall how it looks when in use but it's free. No internal modulators but can be CV driven or if you use Bitwig, it's all open to automation/modulation.

It's the little cousin to Filterverse which is phenomenonal and creative with plenty of modulation but not exactly simple.

Melda has free EQ. Quite a few EQ can work as a filter.

If you want a "filter" with visuals, then Waves Metafilter.

Ah... Thanks for the info. That's a bit of a shame. I hope PB will be bringing it out again at some point.
