I would like to know your opinion about the importance of the songs or tracks in an album being the same or similar genre.

Post

It's probably quite important, but I have trouble making a single track genre-specific :) :ud:

Just call everything crossover and you're fine.

My last album was a mixture of different genres/subgenres that included songs ranging in style from standard pop to chill house, Latin house, triphop, ambient, and a straight up trance banger, etc. Musically, they were pretty diverse and made heavy use of synths, but also featured real guitars, bass, pianos, and EPs on different tracks. But, the one component that I think made it work as a cohesive unit my musical partner Amy’s distinctive voice and style. Without that, it probably would’ve seemed like a rather random collection of musical styles.
