Looks more like their usual mess with their horrible downloader tool...

I found out that you need to download the latest version 1.2.16 from their website.
Then the 3 plugins do show up. But guess what, the download buttons given an error.
But you can download the files as well from your Korg ID account.
But now I am stuck with Korg Software Pass showing that Collection 5 is registered but not activated...
I tried that but it's still stuck on the loading screen

From that demo it’s not anywhere close to a 2600. Completely misses the bite and high-end of the original.

If that demo is a good indicator of how it sounds Korg is still just mid-tier at analog emulation.

Post

That sounds mid tiered to you? wow.

Though not analog emulations, Dan's Team Modwave and Wavestate are sure not mid tier.

Korg was obviously not ready for this launch. The KORG Software Pass app is extremely slow and keeps failing, and offline authorization is not working either. What a buzzkill.

They may have thought they were but no one could have expected the Crowdstrike thing which I guess may be affecting their servers. Lots of websites are down completely.

can anyone correct exact dl path

https://id.korg.com/redirect/ARP-2600/pc ?

That could excuse the slowness, but it doesn't explain why the Software Pass app fails to even start a download when I can download the exact same file myself (at normal speeds) from the website, nor why it fails to perform a simple authorization. This is clearly poorly written software that was not tested and not ready to launch, regardless of network conditions.

It's absolutely a heavy plug-in. That's the price for doing a real model of the 2600, with all of its saturating opamps and idiosyncratic modules. Even the envelopes are computationally expensive. Hopefully you'll find that the quality is worth the CPU cycles! More info here, along with some tips: https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/a ... erformance
Dan, that's the best marketing blurb for a plugin I've ever seen from Korg. Exactly the kind of thing we should be hearing from big players like Korg when they model one of their classic synths. :hihi:

The "most efficient at 48khz" thing is a little weird though.

The good news is all the new instruments sound fantastic (and look good too). Looking forward to spending more time with them whenever the authorization starts working.

I imagine CrowdStrike is to blame for the issues. I had no trouble at all with KORG Software Pass installing all the demos right after they were available (before CrowdStrike meltdown). Hopefully that all gets fixed soon!

I can't tell how accurate the 2600 is - and I imagine this will be a tricky one to compare to the hardware. I was underwhelmed at first. I realized the added effects were making it sound same-y to me. When I went through presets turning off the effects and just adding the 2600 spring reverb I was totally mesmerized - getting the vintage sound I was hoping for. This is like a modern version of TimewARP 2600 (an old favorite)!

I wonder why they didn't include the entire Patch Book? Maybe the missing patches were deemed unworthy?

Post

If you want something like KORG's ARP plugins but more CPU-friendly, I can't recommend GForce's Oddity 3 enough.

Post

This is one synth where I really wish there was a global "effects off" switch. Not that the effects are bad - they just take it out of vintage territory for me. It will be worth the trouble to save my version of favorite presets.

Crowdstrike is security software suite

Software Pass and the Authorization probably users a server that is running Crowdstrike since they involve user IDs and passwords that server needs more security than just downloading a file from a website

So i have to download an installer to download a demo and its not working because i also have to login at Korg and that doesnt work... Mhe ... im going to pass i guess. I was curious to compare my Korg 2600m to the vst version.
