Even the envelopes are computationally expensive. Hopefully you'll find that the quality is worth the CPU cycles! Dan, thanks for that explanation. I admit as a long time Korg Collection user since the very beginning I was a little underwhelmed by version 5, but after your explanation, I will buy it as soon as the Crowdstrike madness(that's not your fault) dies down

I applaud the fact that Korg wasn't afraid to really push the envelope with the plugin and the modeling. I wish more software developers would do the same

Are you using a HiDPI display? On a 4k "retina" display, at 100% scaling the UI fills the screen vertically and about 4/5 horizontally. I just checked 150% scaling (far too large for that 4k display) and it still seems acceptably sharp. If you're seeing a problem on a non-HiDPI display, please let me know and I'll look into it.
I was doing sharpness comparisons based on the scaling of other Korg plugins. I have what I consider a pretty standard display and not HiDPI, 1440P 27". I am also running this on Windows 11. For my display, 140% still fits everything on the screen, 150% I can't quite get the bottom info bar to fit.

Testing the 2600 plugin again this morning, I see the blurriness I'm talking about only shows on the Main tab and it is the white text that mimics the ink printing on the original 2600 that is soft. Everything else that is rendered, like the effects rack on the right side of that page, seems sharp and scales just like other Korg plugins I own (Legacy Collection).

I do want to say while blurry, it is readable. It just looks soft to me when you go past 100%.

I'm looking forward to playing with it more and thanks for the link to the tips, I'll try those out!

Finally i was able to download the demo and tested the 2600 plugin. It sounds really convincing imo (i have the Korg 2600m to compare) i must say im very impressed by the sound but , like some other Korg plugins , there seems to be extra latency added which render the plugin useless for me . Im gonna have to do some more test because latency is too high (whatever the settings)

There's something seriously wrong with this plugin regarding CPU usage. Nothing plays, no fx are enabled and it's eating my CPU. The same applies for the FX version of the plugin

Registration works again.

Now that I was able to download the demo and play around with it a bit I have to say: Great job Dan & team!

The UI is excellent. Clear (I'm on a Mac) & intuitive to use. The sections are labeled clearly and the librarian is instantly familiar to wavestate native users. Patching cables is fun and I especially like the "flow" animation. nice touch.

The raw sound is very good too -- I was able to quickly recreate (within the timeframe of the 20 min demo) the feedback "screamer" patch shown here (Korg Patch of the week #41): . Does not exactly sound the same but totally in the same ballpark and with a little tweaking and more time It can be made to sound even closer I'm sure.

Do using the Audio Units for these still require having the VST downloaded? The M1 and Wavestation were like that and it was really annoying.

Post

I managed to get the coupon for having the M1 LE and get the Korg collection 5 for $249.
But I paid in yen, which reduced the price in US dollars to $174 (had to pay Japanese tax, but still cheaper this way).

So I have a hardware 2600M and thus don't necessarily need a software version, but it is on sale and I suppose I could treat the presets as inspiration for the hardware. What's the quantity/quality of those presets?

Post

Anyone confirm if the current MS20 still works with the MS20 controller?

Finally Software Pass is installing demos. But now the demo wants me to locate factory content that the installer didn't install into the Shared folder. Yay. :scared:

$99 for one plugin is a bit steep (the organ and EP are about as appealing to me as hemorrhoids). Definitely going to wait for a BF sale.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Got Software Pass to open now, but it took a reboot

It didn't even install VST2 versions for me so I guess they are over that finally

Had a good play with the demos now- all 3 are pretty good, but none really add anything to the similar stuff I already have so I will pass. I definitely don't need another electric piano or organ that for sure!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
