KINDZAudio MentalV deserves more attention

There is a couple of plugins that i think are essential for experimental sound design in my arsenal, most of them are spectral processors (GRM Tools, SoundHack, SpecOps), but a couple are multi FX (Turnado, Infiltrator) and granular (Portal, MentalV)
However i am astonished how the MentalV can drastically change a input sound to something completely different.
Last night i decided to make recording that i can chop up later for a track, using only sine wave at 1khz as a source (SocalLabs ToneGenerator), the results are amazing, a lot of weird percussive hits and bleeps, basses and soundscapes, it gets even crazier if you combine it with SpecOps for example.
So yeah, amazing mangler under the radar that deserves attention from sound designers and producers.

Akira Kiteshi would certainly like this.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

so this is pretty great but also pretty buggy. causes lots of crashes, and repeatedly asks for the serial number again
I’d still but again because it’s unique and I like it but beware of the bugs

I've never been able to get along with such extreme plugins. I mean, they're fun but I never seem to get useful sounds from them.

Agreed.SonicGems wrote: Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:02 pm I've never been able to get along with such extreme plugins. I mean, they're fun but I never seem to get useful sounds from them.
I understand the fun in making "mudpie" stuff, but that stuff is never popular to a broad listening audience for a reason.
Not to imply they can't be used in actual productions, but they are no where near as useful as they are hyped to be. Alot of these things seem to be AstroTurf'd on Youtube as well IMO (I'm looking at you Output Portal.)
