I recorded a ton of sampler food over the weekend (took the day off on Friday, so we had a 4-day weekend). Had a lot of fun recording a ride cymbal and a snare drum in ways that might lead you to believe I've never seen either instrument before.

An idiot on Set Theory:

Didn’t realize this is a spot for rough mixes here too.

Spent some time reorganizing in Live. I’m upping my tag game for easier access, building out chains for mixing, saving things in collections.
I need to build some templates out too, especially for recording as I’m wasting time setting things up.
I’ve been helping my brother in Live and helping him mix his track, but he’s doing all the work. I’m just helping him with a workflow and what to look for.
I’ve also got a couple interesting tracks that I’ll likely put up soonish.

I did this at the beginning of the year when I was working on studio maintenance stuff. Created tracking, mixing and mastering templates and a sketch template for my own work. I then went through and made presets for the Hardware Instrument and Hardware FX devices which have the I/O already set up for my outboard gear and even went through and created HW CV Instrument presets for each of my oscillators with the tuning profile saved in the presets.elxsound wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2024 5:39 pm Spent some time reorganizing in Live. I made a bunch of device chains with the effects which I use most frequently, with macros for the parameters to which I need quick access. I made tons of Remote Control pages to give me quicker access to parameters via controllers.
In addition to doing this all in Bitwig, I also created new routing presets in the Dante control panel, so I can quickly switch between tracking with mics, tracking with line-ins and mixing.
It was a few days of work but it's made it so much easier to start a project. Much less setup and fewer opportunities to get distracted.
Now I plan to work on setting up macros on my Stream Deck to, so that I can switch configurations in Auricle for the iConnectivity MIDI Interfaces, Dante control panel, Focusrite control panel and Emote for H9000... with a single button press. It will be so nice to simply press a [Mixing] button or a [Synth Tracking] button and have all the monitoring, audio and MIDI routing update accordingly.

Finished my study of Rossum Morpheus and I really don't want to hear any more filter sweeps for a while.
...my next project is to see if I can imitate Djupviks Box of Angels with software so I'm going to be listening to a lot of filters.
But at least all I'm looking for parallel bandpasses and I'm banning sawtooths (sawteeth?) for the foreseeable future.

Because the Sequential has terrible effects I connected its output into my Planetarium.
A couple weeks ago I made a sequence I really like for a bass patch. I'm not sure it's original, I have been known to subconsciously copy stuff I haven't heard in a long time...

So moody, I love it, but what do I add to it?
Today I spent some time flipping through presets on softsynths and I came to 'Whistle' on Triple Cheese and added Valhalla's Supermassive at about 40% Hmm

Finally took the time to set up my modular to play interesting polyphonic patches using the Befaco MidiThing v2 I bought a while back. Helped that a firmware update lets you apply key velocity to scale the ADSR output so effectively only need 2 outputs to bring through pitch, envelope and velocity. Best results were, maybe unsurprisingly, using Qu Bit Chords v2 and then passing all 4 of the individual outputs through different filters with parameters modulated in synced but varied ways. Also beefed up the bass notes with a Soundforce DCO/VCF combo as it’s got that perfect Juno bass sound.
Recorded nothing but I think a worthwhile bit of exploration that I’ll definitely be tapping into down the line. Will also look into building poly chords out of nothing more than filters for ambient fun.

Have been spending some time with Labyrinth, getting used to switching quantization scales.
This thing is fun and frustrating at the same time.
I wish there were more CV in/outs as the patch bay is too limited. Same issue with DFAM, Mother 32 & SubH… the I/O is organized strangely and isn’t easy remember.
I keep planning on buying those befaco colored nuts to make it easier, but haven’t done it yet.
The other thing is it would have been great if it was just two regular VCOs because using 2 voices just seems natural, but the Mod VCO is difficult to keep in tune with the main VCO if the sequence range is too high.
Still, complaints aside, it’s a fun box.

Yea, I noticed that they don't have a timing in and was wondering if that would be frustrating syncing it with other vcos in a euro rack.

Timing in is there!Constructed Identity wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 4:29 pm Yea, I noticed that they don't have a timing in and was wondering if that would be frustrating syncing it with other vcos in a euro rack.
But, there’s also separate clock inputs for each sequencer, so it becomes even more fun with different clock tempos.
Also, I caved and ordered a Spectravox. Hope you’re still liking yours!
I also have a 60 hp Moog case coming, with new 3 tier stands. So, I’ll augment the Make Noise desktops/Moog station with some modules, but still haven’t decided what will work best yet.

The new stand things arrived and I spent a lot of time setting up because you have to tear everything down before sliding them onto a crossbar...
All finished now though:

Also, if timing in from MIDI, it’s very easy to change the timing in multiples or division.
