How do I get proper L/R mix?

Problem: I am still hearing left panned sounds in my right monitor and vice versa.
Set up: I have a PreSonus AUDIOBOX USB and I have two (left and right channel) outputs ... I'm feeding that into small Behringer mixer which I assumed was set up for mono on the 1 and 2 inputs because the other inputs say 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10.
(I assume panning one pot full left and the other full right isn't the right idea)

How should I be doing this to hear true stereo.

Seems exactly the right thing to do! I would feed DAW stereo output into one of the Behringer mixer stereo channels. Anything speaks against that?

Mixer mono channels destination is controlled via the pan control on the channel; and that's how it shows up on the master. Tweak if you want more on one channel or the other. Depending on the mixer - sends are often mono only.

If you've got it reversed, somewhere in the path you have 2 jacks connected wrong in the Left/Right jacks. Use one of the stereo input channels, or take 2 channels on the mixer and pan them full left/right; but that's what the stereo channels are for.
