Hey

A surprise release. Aodyo Instruments has just released a software version of the Anyma Phi physical modeling Synthesizer. It runs as a standalone app and VST3 and AU plugins on macOS, Linux, and Windows.

It offers the same engine but in polyphony and mono timbral. It also shares the same patch format, so you can use the same patches on the hardware and software.

Backers of the Anyma Omega hardware synth and Loom on Kickstarter/IndieGoGo will get a free license. Check your e-mail :)

First test: It's buggy, and both the VST3 and AU versions crashed in Ableton Live 12.0.5 on Apple M2. Bug reports are out.

That's a cool thing for aodyo to do. What's the price for just the plugin?
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

The VST3 crashed for me until I ran the standalone to register it, then it worked (Windows 11, Bitwig)

I find the UI pretty awkward and either MPE isn't working (ironically enough), or it's set up specifically for the Loom and doesn't work well with Roli, or the presets aren't set up for it. Controller assignment seems awkward: I could get channel aftertouch but not MPE pressure.

I still got some neat sounds from it when I drove it with Harmony Bloom instead though, especially once I started patching from scratch.

The devs answered on another forum. No sound and crashes are apparently problems of the demo version, the registered version is said not to have this. (I got a license as a Loom backer - first got no sound and crashes as reported here, after registration it worked). A fix for the demo is said to be in the works.

"Clever, Anyma V shares the patch format, enabling seamless patch creation and transfer between both instruments. The hardware version lacked some patch content. I think the software version could bring a good amount of new content to the hardware, especially from third-party sound designers."

Looking forward to more patches for the Anyma Phi.

I'm using it in Apple Logic on a 2019 Macbook, no crash yet.

This was an instant buy for me. Was hoping they'd release this as an AU and they answered. Looking forward to the Omega as it looks great!

Hi, Jonathan from Aodyo here. Anyma V v1.2.1 is out and fixes the crashing, sound and activation bugs many reported from the initial version. You can download it from the product page on our website (my account is too new, I can't use links).
