That would be ridiculous if it was free in that I never got any notifications from UA about it. It's been on sale for a few days now so how is a customer supposed to know whats free or not. I guess this is going to be my first experience being f u t a by UA. Do I get a badge?

I am not a spark subscriber. I am unsure if the "free" email is in reference to my buying it from PB and using a redeen code on UA to get it "free", or if its actually free. I do not see another instance of ATR in my account. so if I was supposed to get it free, I want the free one so I can sell it to recoup my costs on buying. how fing ridiculous. fing brain dead companies...

I bought from JJR and didn't get an email like that, I have Signature edition and it wasn't free for me and no email offering it free! I seem to remember however that after I bought the signature edition I did get Sound City Studios free (it came out after I bought it but for some reason I got it free, I wasn't expecting but didn't complain, it was like it was just added to the signature collection...)

If you didn't buy it before you bought it this time, then no, you haven't missed anything. It's just simple automated marketing - a process goes through all the people that own the DSP version (which you do, as you bought the ATR yesterday, and you get both versions), and the system sends an automated email to ATR DSP owners about claiming their free native version.

You haven't missed anything, you haven't been scammed, you haven't overpaid, you aren't supposed to get a licence free just for being awesome - just ignore the email, it doesn't apply to you.

And I still dont understand. I dont have UA DSP anything. All I have are the native versions as part of System 1. Anyway I plan to get to the bottom of this because if I bought it and it was coming to me for free I want my money back.

Yes you do. You bought the ATR. So you have a licence for the DSP version of the ATR, and the native version of the ATR, and the Luna Extension version of the ATR, as they all come with your purchase.

Hence why (re-read my above email for the reasons you got an email).

I don't know what a "System 1" is - unless you're referring to a hardware DSP group - does this come with a licence for the ATR or not? If not, then no, UA weren't lining up to gift you a free plugin. If this "System 1" comes with an ATR licence, then contact support to see if they can sort you out.

They're only giving it for free to people who own the DSP version. If you never bought the DSP version, you won't be getting it for free. If you are eligible to receive it for free, open UA Connect and you'll see it there.

Maybe you should rant to Customer Support instead of here. I'm sure they'll tell you whether they want to give you a free plugin or not.

And as he owns the DSP version (now), he got the email, as I explained above.

(UA's account system only knows what DSP plugins you own - it doesn't store, or know about what native plugins you own (that's a different system, and is why you can't look up your native licenses in your UA account online), so UA don't actually have a way to easily check whether someone that owns a DSP licence has already downloaded and activated the native version of it - so they inform everyone, to make sure people don't miss out.)

This has happened before with previous ports, it's just a not very smart marketing email system - that's it. Nothing to see here.

When the Signature Collection was released, Sound City was not yet ready but had been announced and promised to Signature customers. That’s why you got it free.
