For ambience Jamcat you really killed the mood there. But you did make me laugh !

Recently been revisiting Korg Wavestate Native and one other plugin along these lines...
Alchemy 1 is still in use as well.

So just name our favourite synth??
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Reaper

(For a serious answer - any will indeed work. However ones that will help you out a little more are ones with a lot of interesting support for internal motion within a patch. For me a few stand out there; Korg Wavestate, UVI Falcon, Synthmaster, and Pigments from my own experience; others will have other favorites. Phase Plant and Korg Modwave could be good choices too but neither screams "ambient" to me.)

Okay, not a synth, but I really like using paulstretch and autoconvolving (using a sample as an impulse response that you are applying convolution reverb to). I think they create some really nice ambient sounds. :)

Are you talking about the old Python - script that popped up a few years ago in here?

There is also a new kid on the block, "Sloom": https://www.kvraudio.com/news/anemond-r ... hing-61070 . Haven't tried it yet.

I usually do it in audacity with the nyquist prompt. Load a sample, select it, then in the nyquist prompt do a (convolve *track* *track*), peak normalize the result, and get your sample.

Cool, thanks a lot! Might need to re_install Audacity then. That Python - script was also quite promising btw.

This is a nice little freebie geared to ambient (although often dissonant) sounds:
