I was annoyed that Reaper doesn't offer this. However, I now have a drop down menu in my MIDI Editor with all my most used MIDI CC mapped and ready to automate with two clicks.
Why did you leave Studio One?

The only feature I'm missing from S1 is being able to automate a hardware synth just by wiggling a knob on the synth, and S1 automatically shows me the Midi CC allowing me to drop it into an automation lane. SO fast and efficient!

Is there a DAW that does do that? I use Cubase and would love that feature, but some of my synths don't even have MIDI out going to my interface.J Veronica wrote: Thu Jul 25, 2024 11:27 am The only feature I'm missing from S1 is being able to automate a hardware synth just by wiggling a knob on the synth, and S1 automatically shows me the Midi CC allowing me to drop it into an automation lane. Another thing I noticed last night in Studio One is, say I want to midi map all of my sends in studio one to a couple of faders on my midi controller, for dedicated send control over all my tracks..
Well in Studio One if I midi map a fader to send 1, it will only map it to that channels send alone. Meaning it won't work on all tracks. This is easily done in Cubase, with midi remote , I can map all sends to work with every single track. Another short coming of studio one ;(

Studio One support has become worse over time. I too have been a Studio One user for 15 years, and in the beginning there was much more support. Guys like Rick Naqvi, and Jonathan Hillman would pop in the user forums, and talk directly with us about new features etc.
Then all of a sudden, it was like a corporate button was smashed, and what was once a passion for them to communicate & get a new powerful daw out, turned into a slow decline, with less and less new features, no more direct contact with them, to where it is now. Tech support is almost at an elementary status.
The Fender acquisition seems to be making it worse as well. It was literally like a candidate in politics, the people put you in a good position, then they forgot about the people.
If you have one bad thing to say about the daw ,in their user forums, you are shouted down, and those calling out the issues, well, those posts disappear. Alot of us caught on to that.

I'm moving away from S1 right now for two reasons:
1. Upgrade costs.
2. I can program Reaper in a way impossible in S1.
Simple as that.

S1 is a great DAW. Ableton has such a smooth way of navigating. I wish S1 was able to move and navigate like Ableton. The one thing I detest with S1, is the Qwerty pop up keyboard. Sometimes a user, especially laptop users, may not have a midi controller handy. Ableton, like FL Studio, allows an integrated qwerty mode. S1 should have this as well. Zoom and navigation functions are not smooth.

In what way? Just curious, don’t have Ableton.vertibration wrote: Sat Jul 27, 2024 11:42 am Ableton has such a smooth way of navigating. I wish S1 was able to move and navigate like Ableton.

Ok, so zoom in and out functions are smoother. Not as jittery. Not too fast, not too slow. Obviously you can modify speed with your mouse programs (I use logitech). By default, Abletons zoom speed is very smooth. I also loath that S1 cant let you customize the mouse wheel. I just want to zoom in and out like Ableton. I had to download a third party mouse modifier called Mos in order to do it in S1.macmuse wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 12:37 amIn what way? My biggest gripe with S1 is the damn qwerty keyboard pop up window. Like....Why do DAW's do this? This is absolutely one of the most stupid DAW decisions anyone can make. Ableton, Luna and FL Studio.....you just press the midi/keyboard button or press a quick shortcut and it converts your computer keyboard into a midi controller.
S1 pop up qwerty keyboard is just atrocious to use. I would have to say that any DAW that uses a qwerty pop up, I stay away from. Why? I like to quickly access midi notes rather than rely on a midi controller. What if Im away from my computer, and on a laptop? Thats why I have a strong opinion about qwerty.
Ableton and FL Studio qwerty is unmatched imo. Thats it for me though. S1 is a great DAW, fix the crappy qwerty and I would def use it again

The S1 Mixer is the worst. The "quick controls" suck. They just suck. Not only are these controls useless, when I want to open the full plugin UI I will inevitably activate the quick controls and the rest of my plugin chain scrolls off the screen. The plugin arrangement across tracks is impossible to take in since they are all mumbly-jumbly all over i.e. I can't scan across the mixer and see my usual plugin chain/arrangements etc. It's a deal-killer for me.
Otherwise, it's a fine DAW but I can't use it.

Interesting. The navigation is the primary reason why I don't use Ableton.vertibration wrote: Sat Jul 27, 2024 11:42 am S1 is a great DAW. Ableton has such a smooth way of navigating. Of course it's a matter of personal preferences, but if you willing to dedicate some time I can highly recommend the following videos:

Yes, it can zoom. The qwerty keyboard pop up window is still a PITA

You actually don’t have to ever leave Studio One for any reason. It literally does it all.
Aside from the usual recording/mixing/arranging, it also does:
Notation/tablature printing
Lyrics sheet / cue
Chord analysis
Audio / video editing
3rd party ARA integration (Melodyne / Spectral Layers / Acon / VocALign)
Full album mastering
streaming platform target mixdowns
Live show sequencing
Studio One is unique in the audio world as the only complete music creation environment that supports the entire creative process from start to finish — from songwriting, to scoring, to recording, to arranging, to mixing, to mastering, to publishing, to performing.

True, that's why it's a bad thing if developers implement every wish some user has. Presonus Software unfortunately already implemented a lot of things they shouldn't have though, but, they 1. have to justify the paid upgrades, and, 2. I think they also implement the most voted for user wishes in the Q & A section of their website: https://answers.presonus.com/questions/ ... sort=votesTrancit wrote: Sat Aug 03, 2024 3:26 pmLet´s better say it offers something for everything... while that´s actually not a good thing...jamcat wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 7:03 pm You actually don’t have to ever leave Studio One for any reason. I really wished there was a competitive DAW which keeps it simple. Studio One used to be that, but, already implemented too much stuff for my liking. They "listen" to the ones who think DAWs have to do everything too much. I don't blame them for that, the laymen are usually the loudest these days, but, I certainly wished that they would stick to their vision more.
But, I guess if you can make more money by offloading loads of features every 1 or 2 years in paid upgrades, then you just do it.

Many half-baked features get somehow thrown in without further thinking and often never get touched again... doing something but could be great if done right...
Nothing wrong with starting with a rough idea... but it should be refined until it´s satisfying. But this most likely the part you don´t attract new potential buyers with...
