This has me a little more interested, though still doesn't wow me. Dunno what it is about Moog filters that don't excite me. But I do like the semi-modular aspect for diddling around with sync/FM etc and the envelopes sound quite snappy. Can't tell what size it is - if it's the same as the K2/Cat then I might buy one to fill up one of those triple stands. The Model D just doesn't grab me at all but I think I could live with this - AND it's not as fugly as the real Grandmother, so win-win. Cheap as chips, as usual. I do like a lot of Behringer stuff but I hope they don't get stuck in a copying Moog rut - there are better synths to emulate/rip off IMO.

Haven't watched the vid yet, but the color scheme and switches reminds me of the old Moog/Realistic MG-1, my very first synth. Ahhhhhh, memories

I was under the mistaken assumption that this was a clone of the Moog Model 15:

But apparently it's a copy of the Moog Grandmother.

Is the Grandmother a clone or inspired by the original Moog Model 15? I am just confused at this point.

No this model 15 is a miniturazed version of the Behringer system 55 modular system which was inspired by the Moog model 10 ...they say in their video.

I'm tempted by this one. I have rack space for 1 more Behringer 80hp synth.
I think really the new proton makes the most sense but I am drawn this this one too

I've toyed with throwing a bit of pocket money away on their Moogs to fill a space too, but the Proton makes far more sense. Been waiting for that for what seems like ages, and TBH I don't really like Moog filters, whereas Neutron is capable of some unique character and it follows that Proton does similar but more of it. If you have 1 space - Proton all the way. And it looks better.discogsaddict wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 12:57 pm I'm tempted by this one. I have rack space for 1 more Behringer 80hp synth.

Looking at the labeling on the unit and assuming it is like the Grandmother, the LFO goes audio rate and tracks 1v/octave for a third oscillator and you get the patchbay as well.Aliens wrote: Tue May 14, 2024 3:45 am Obviously both, but if I had to choose between this and a model d (I don't), what swings it the patchbay or the mini;s 3rd osc?

I played a Moog Grandmother for a little bit at Knobcon a few years ago and really liked the sound and feel. Would have gone for it if I had more studio space.
Behringer hints at the Grandmother more than a little, and everyone seems to think it's supposed to be a Grandma clone. But their own copy says it's basically a compact version of their System 55, which was a clone of the Moog System 55. Apparently the filter sounds quite different, and of course a digital spring reverb tank doesn't sound like an actual spring.

Personally, I'm on Team Patchbay. I honestly never got excited by the Minimoog compared to modulars/semimodulars. (Also I wouldn't buy a Behringer; to me it'd always feel a bit like the "we have _____ at home" meme.)
