I'm looking forward to hearing entries that turned off the oscillators and turned the ADS(R) knobs to the far left and just used the echo to make tuned notes. Doing so has a really really nice sound in my humble opinion.

I have the right tuning as D#-1.06, C#-1.25, B-1.48, A-1.72, G#-1.86, F#-2.16, E-2.5, D#-2.67, C#-3.05, B-3.5, A-4.0, G#4.28 etc up to 20.
On the left should just add 1.00 delay time. So it's 2.06, 2.25, 2.48 etc.

So each note is a separate instance. Then I'm (now) using JS: midi note filter (Reaper) so that each instance will only sound if one single specified note is played. At least if I make yet another track, I'll do this thing, that others on the discord at least are doing.

For my one track (185 5 above) I didn't tune the left and right separate. The lower notes have bass professor on it and sounds in tune, somehow. The higher sounds out of tune in a way that happens to work.

This was discussed in more detail on the discord by IV and others. Some of you inexplicably don't use it though and may have no idea so thought I'd share.

I used the Cheery SEM delay as oscillator in my track for the Gamelan like tuned percussion,
but I didn't split notes, rather I modulated the delay time in three synth instances, to make three voices with variable pitch.

Nice! And ... it worked nicely ... played in a full Javanese Gamelan set way back in time ...

Yes. I noticed you were doing some of it. It sounds nice.

Sounds interesting, can you link me to the discord?

Nice find to use a tuned echo ...
I do this note filtering sometimes when I want to have "tuned" amplitude modulation. I wrote myself a Protoplug LUA Script for it. Not the cleanest code :-D but it works https://github.com/huberp/ProtoplugScri ... toplug.lua

I also do note filtering when I have multiple layers for eg a piano, and want the various registers to have different patches :-)

Made in FL Studio 2024

Plugins DAW: Some FL Stock Plugins, like Parameric EQ, Maximus, Love Filter, Reverb 2, Balance, Delay 3
Plugins: TDR Nova, TDR Molotok, Airwindows Galactic 2 Reverb, Valhallah Supermassiv, LoadMax, OTT, khs Transientshaper, Limiter No6, Raum Reverb, SpecTrend (!!!) SPAN

Many thanks to Madmcman and VI :tu: for the really helpful recommendations in Discord regarding mixing in general (SpecTrend plugin) and the really good tutorial videos for creating usable drum, snare, hihat sounds. That really helped a lot! At least I hope so :hihi:

I didn't go that route as my thoughts were that it's not use of the synth per se. Yes, the fx are part of this incarnation, but the original box did not have that. But, all in all, fair game to those who used it. Effectively Karplus I guess. I just stuck with sound design with the OSC's and noise this round.

I meant inexplicably don't use the discord which has so much good info. Otherwise ok. As you like.

Unless I decide it's too awful to post, I've gone with a single instance and automation to 'tune' the delay. Wee bit of oscillator in there too to try to add interest...

I can only recommend joining the Discord channel. Apart from the fact that I agree with you that some tips and tricks for the current synth are not often discussed here. But the reason for this is that the more detailed discussions tend to take place there and you would have to have the same discussion again here, which is simply not possible. Apart from that, there is also input from people who are not even taking part in the contest and who can give you valuable tips on various aspects of producing music. And that's just one of many points that increase the added value. I hope to see you on the other side... :)

One thought about moving most of the discussions to discord ... and I'm entering the area of pure speculation with this:

If this thread get's less attention, then OSC might look like "not too lively" for new comers, or bystanders that have been thinking about joining for quite some time ...
they might come to the conclusion "hm, not much life and interesting stuff in there. Why would I join?". And that would be the wrong conclusion. But how should she/he know? Might be some very interesting stuff is there, but not immediately "visible" if a bystander only skims through the threads.
May be some OSC discorder is willing to add "Interesting thing xyz is discussed at discord. If you're interested join at <invitation link>" posts to add pointers to discord in the kvr thread?

May be to much speculation and overthinking ... what do you think?

First of all: The Discord Chanel should by no means be seen as a competitor to this great forum in which we move here! It is by no means that! Personally, I see it more as an additional service, especially if you're also interested in the people behind the music. A large part of the content of this Chanel consists of exactly that.

I absolutely agree with you that it feels like there's nothing going on here in the forum at the moment. I can only speculate as to why this thread now seems a little short. But I suspect that the vacation season has played a big part in it, though.

I also really like the idea of referring to Discord more often. Perhaps the thread creator should also point this out directly in the first post. I don't know...

But I think it should be seen less as a secret circle and more as what it is: a further offer that is not primarily about the current synth and tips and tricks for this synth.

And I think I speak for everyone there when I say: everyone is welcome! And it makes absolutely no difference whether you consider yourself a professional or a beginner.
