HI, I want to buy a copy of Reason 3.0 and authorize it on two unused laptop. Reason 3.0 is my favorite version of Reason and I dont care about updating.
I know that if you buy Ableton Live you can get access to older versions to run on older machines. Same with Reaper and Pro Tools.

it has serial copy protection only.
you will need the 3 discs to install,
possibly the .iso s of them could be mounted
-and your serial
Reason 4 is also serial copy protection,
it's the same to install it,
but it's one dvd, not 3 cds
These 2 programs are very capable if you got right into them
I have them both
The only difference really is the driver handling and 4 has Thor
They work a bit different driver-wise on a vm
iirc 4 runs more stable on virtual machine
probably the only way to get them legally is to buy them from someone else

I wish more software makers would go back to serial only

You should try Houdini, apprentice (free) indie ($269 yr). even blender is quite good with a littlenix808 wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 12:09 am there's no way for me to use my 3ds max 2010 and 2012,

effort. The only thing I actually have a commercial lic for is 3D Coat these days. I can upgrade
to the current Lightwave for about $600, not super interested tho. Blender is fine if I need
to do something, add a renderman lic if I need film quality for not too much...
Fortunately, I haven't needed that is some time.
But yeah, max, maya etc, not going to come cheap these days, tho they never really were cheap.
Some competition was nice for the industry, but Autodesk eliminated most of that.
FormZ is another good one with heavy drafting roots, haven't tried the free version.

I use Reason 3 on most my machines it is really the most cross of efficiency & sound possibility as it was the first with the Combinator... No need for track 'bouncing' even on meager machines have as many tracks as you want. Reason 4 doubled the system requirements could really care less about 'Thor' I made over 160 GB of refills sampling output of modern VSTi then SFZ to SXT to Refill sampling every semitone... Also just make into HiQ SF2 load up into NN-XT, great way to get new sounds into old Reason... NN-XT STILL a great sampler...

Yeah this is why I want to use Reason 3 on my older machines. It ran great back in the day and it still runs great if you have not updated to a newer OS.eLawnMust wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:55 am I use Reason 3 on most my machines it is really the most cross of efficiency & sound possibility as it was the first with the Combinator... YUP... Pretty much agree on all that but I also have it on a Netbook that's 1000x600 screen which Reason 3 works well as it is good to 800x600 screen.... Never liked those moronic device 'wings' that came out in version 4 certainly a waste of screen space...
