Awesome! I've always had some interest in the Touellskouarn stuff. I'll have to check out their kits.whyterabbyt wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 5:12 pm Not newly bought, but recently built and installed, so no longer in the kit backlog: Shakmat Bishops Miscellany (dual stepped CV recorder), and Touellskouarn Sonveskan (germanium feedback mixer).

Such an source of endless fun! Enjoy!
Reminds me, I still need to release my latest round of reels, since I finished doing all the editing and placing markers months ago!

Speaking of kits, I've been struggling with where I'm going to take my Buchla system.
I have clones of 208, 218, 291 and 266 and I've been thinking of building a 258, 281, 292, 207 and 257 to kinda fill out that system... but I also have a 291e and a 281h, which are currently unused because I don't have a Preset Manager module. I could start building a 200e system but I have some reservations about that. Hmmm...

Yeah, I had some long weekends after I built the Kaseta module, and spent some of that time on a few bits and pieces. There's a couple of others that are ongoing, so hopefully some more stuff finished soon.vurt wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 6:13 pmwhyterabbyt wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 5:12 pm Not newly bought, but recently built and installed, so no longer in the kit backlog: Shakmat Bishops Miscellany (dual stepped CV recorder), and Touellskouarn Sonveskan (germanium feedback mixer).good to see you getting projects finished!

I had originally thought about getting the Stakal Brulu germanium fuzz module, but decided the Sonveskan was more interesting. Like so many in the backlog, Ive had that sat there for quite a while, though, Im not actually sure if they still do kits.justin3am wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 6:33 pmAwesome! Been watching the educational videos of Pamela's Pro workout to not only get a handle on what it can do, but also what it would keep me from having to get- like a clock divider. I don't yet know if it will do all of the sequencing duties or if I may want to get something like Hermod+.
Just ordered Behringer Go and I am still soldering together the Turing Machine a little at a time.

I quite like mine. It's more useful than it seems at first glance and rides a nice balance between being flexible and fairly easy to use.Constructed Identity wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:53 pm Been watching the educational videos of Pamela's Pro workout to not only get a handle on what it can do, but also what it would keep me from having to get- like a clock divider. Elmyra 2 arrived. Some quick thoughts:
Comparisons to the Lyra-8 shouldn't be taken too far. Similar control scheme and tunable voices, and both have a dirty delay and distortion, and a certain attitude of aggressiveness and instability. But that's where similarities stop really.
A big part of the Lyra is its cross-modulation, and where it had any subtlety at all, it was in how held notes could bend as you played other notes. I had trouble getting it to not utterly dominate a mix and be fatiguing to listen to.
Elmyra has a much wider timbral range, generally better control in many ways, and the four oscillators are less interdependent. It can't really do "clean" but it definitely goes to some pleasant ambient places, if you work with it. (Though my idea of pleasant often has distortion and grit anyway...) At first I thought the Ouch section was going to be too extreme, but I like it a lot with the Kitty & Birdy cards installed. You can find subtlety, you just have to work for a bit and get used to the instrument.
I really appreciate the microtuning options. I've played with 7 EDO a few times before and like it a lot, and 9 EDO is proving to be pretty great too. Playing melodies spontaneously just with the pitch knobs is great (and it works well with 0-Ctrl too). And sometimes if you park it "between" notes it will trill between them in a glitchy but beautiful way.
The "secret code" system for settings is a compromise. I don't love needing a cheat sheet, but I do really appreciate access to all those other options. I'm probably going to print a micro cheat sheet with my label maker and stick it to the front edge of the unit (if it'll stick to that pebbly plastic texture).
I missed having dedicated drone swtiches or knobs at first, or mix level knobs. But the pink MODP mode does work well for that and only a few hours into it, I don't feel like I'm fighting it that much anymore.
The delay is lo-fi and yet totally different from a PT delay. I kind of wish the audio input routed through it too... but then, you can inject slow LFOs or envelopes into Ouch for some interesting times.
I'm definitely having no trouble at all finding sounds that are right in my wheelhouse. It loves 0-Ctrl, any post-filter is welcome when Ouch is cranked, and sounds great through Strega or Bunker Archeology -- but I think mostly I'm going to treat it as a standalone instrument.

Ordered a nOb Control (they have them in stock again, for now).
The price on these things keeps going up, and I hesitated. But I figure since they're continuously in demand, if I don't feel it's worth it, I shouldn't have much trouble reselling.
